Vatican City (AFP) - Barack Obama will meet Pope Francis for the first time Thursday for talks on a shared agenda to fight inequality which the US President hopes will help boost support at home.

The talks between the first Latin-American pope and first African-American US president will focus on tackling the gap between the rich and the poor, but are likely to spill over into thornier issues such as abortion, homosexuals and contraception.

The meeting at the Vatican comes as a welcome rest-stop for Obama during a six-day European tour dominated by the crisis over Crimea, and the US leader will doubtless be hoping some of the pope's overwhelming popularity will rub off on him.

Oh yes they do. Ten Commandments weekly mass frequent confession knowledge of Jesus. Doesn’t getter complicated than that. Birth control takes God out of his proper place, creating lives through us, abortion is birth control with murder on top of it, voting for politicians who promote this, and add in the habitual acceptance of adultery and the pope can’t even get close.

They do NOT need anyone to remind them of this/these things.

What did people do in the Middle Ages?

St Patrick’s day just passed. He lived in the 300s. The organizers of the parade knew to bring their case to keep activists against catholicism all the way yo the supreme court. They did not blame nor depend on the pope to do their work for them. they are men

People practiced Catholicism for all those years without constant prodding from the pope. Did he have the Internet? Newspapers? We’re all of the popes good until this one?

No, they do not!

It is a fact that a vast percentage of supposed Catholics darken a church doorstep less than five times a year. So they do not hear WHY or HOW contraception is wrong. Why direct abortion is always an intrinsic evil. Why homosexual activity is always an intrinsic evil and a serious disorder of the sexual act.

The average Catholic is just like the average person. They only hear how wonderful all the active Homosexuals are and how bigoted their Church is. They are secular first and Catholics on Christmas, at funerals, on Easter and at the odd first communion.

I attest that even those who go to weekly Mass rarely hear any talk about morals either and way too much about forgiveness and the LOVE of Christ. ‘God is all Love’ is uttered ad nauseum. Although it is true, it is beside the point. He is also all just. As He passed judgment on mankind in the past, He will judge all upon their death and again at the end of times.

It is a fact that a majority of people will be condemned to an eternity in Hell without the benefit of God’s presence. It is directly stated as so by Christ himself.

People who attend mass every week, go to regular confession, do corporal works of mercy and spend time praying the rosary are NOT the ones that need the guidance of the Pope. It is those that are secular that need his help.

The Pope is in the business of saving souls. His business is not doing well recently and he is very much responsible as he has been in a power position in the Church hierarchy for decades. The exact decades that the Church has foundered so much.

The fact that the Church as a whole does such an abysmal job of catechism, especially since Vatican II, is a prime example of why we have so many serious problems in the Church. AND the World at large!

The Pope is directly responsible just as any CEO is directly responsible for the health of a corporation. He is the responsible party in the Church. HE IS THE ONE EVERYONE KNOWS!

To say that people do not need constant reminding is seriously wrong. People are fallen, we are all sinners. It is only through constant work and pushing that we can hope to attain the Kingdom of Heaven.

The idea that he would give credence and by virtue of his meeting condoning the POTUS in his serious crimes against Natural Law is in itself a sinful act. HE is called upon to instruct those who are in error. HE is supposed to do so regardless of protocol. He stands as the visible example of Christ on Earth.

HE is a failure because he fears power. He fears being contradictory to those who need his contradiction the most.

He is a coward and you are intent on forgiving and excusing his and the Church’s cowardly acts.

Several Popes are bad at the job. This one, unfortunately seems to be worse than average. At least so far.
