Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton saw President Obama’s speech in Brussels today as deeply concerning for the United States and a grave insight into how Obama views international relations.
Bolton, speaking directly after the speech on Fox News, was flummoxed that President Obama’s chief concern appeared to be that Russian President Vladimir Putin violated international law by invading Ukraine.
Absent, Bolton noted, was any mention of Russia’s imperialist motivations or the need to implement further deterrents against Putin.
“There’s nothing in the speech about understanding force and power and international affairs the way the Russians do and how they proceeded, nor anything about deterrents or dissuasion. It was almost entirely about international norms, international law, the United Nations, none of which have done a thing to stop Russians in Ukraine.”
Additionally, Bolton ripped President Obama for suggesting U.S. interests in Ukraine are minimal considering the former Soviet state’s geopolitical significance.
“I think the president is living in a world of words and Putin is living in a world of power. I mean, the president even went so far as to argue actual U.S. interests in the Ukraine are fairly minimal. What concerns us is the violation of international law. I actually think we’ve got major tangible interest in the Ukraine,” he said.

He is totally expecting applause, always the narcissist. He gives two or three signals for the applause to begin! No one even clamors to shake his hand on the way out.

He even says "applause" after gesturing for applause. What a complete and total asshat!
It must really suck to give a rambling, stumbling speech and there are no single, white, female, Kwanzaa-celebrating, elementary school teachers around to appreciate it.

Putin is force feeding Obama a good dose of Reality. As for Europe’s Map changes? Didn’t we do that in Kosovo? Isn’t their votes in Spain, Scotland, and other places—Even East and west Germany was a map change. The forces of the 20th and 19th Century are still in play—as they have been since Sargon I in Ancient Times. Sargon was a God King but he knew a good spear, sword, and dagger were was held an Empire Together.

Well, it was Putin's 38 day bombing campaign that really pissed people off. /sarc

I realize that shocks people, but it's a fact and no Russian could resist the opportunity to seize the Crimea while the Ukraine was busy tearing itself apart.
He played the game and outbid the EU but the EU changed the game and tried the same sort of stuff they have so recently done in North Africa, regime change by mob action. What did the EU expect, did they really think Putin would ignore their changing the game and just try to play by their new rules?
I don't trust Putin as far as he could throw me when it comes to not doing whatever he can get away with but I do trust him to act Russian and not like a European puffball. How the West has deluded themselves into thinking they could "handle" Putin the same way they "handle" everyone not in the EU/US club I really don't know.
If he wants the Western Ukraine or even all of it I doubt he'll do anything soon other than rattle everyone's cage for a while. He knows it'll fall into his lap like a ripe plumb once the millions of Mooze Lames the Europeans have imported start their jihad in earnest.
