Moscow — Russian government officials have swapped their iPads for Samsung tablets to ensure tighter security, the telecoms minister told news agencies on Wednesday. Journalists spotted that ministers at a cabinet meeting were no longer using Apple tablets, and minister Nikolai Nikiforov confirmed the changeover "took place not so long ago."

"We are not proposing any sanctions," he said

LOL ... if they were concerned about “security” they would keep their iPads. No ... this is a “political move” about Moscow not wanting to use an “American” company, and instead - pick a Korean one ... :-) ...

Defending Data on iOS 7
Last Updated: Monday, February 10, 2014

iOS 7 is a significant update, with serious implications for enterprise management and data security (don’t worry, all good).

The short version is that iOS is quite secure – far more than a general-purpose computer. But you need to understand Apple’s security philosophy to comprehend their design decisions and your integration options. Apple has a clear vision of the future for BYOD, and it is very different than the way most organizations have managed personal devices in the past.

This paper updates our guidance for iOS and includes a deep dive into iOS 7 security and management features. Special thanks to WatchDox for licensing this content so we can release it for free!

I’m sure the NSA uses the backdoors built into the system both from a hardware perspective as well as software.

There are people who say there are black helicopters over their house, too - and that they are being followed by black cars and vans are parked down the block from their house. I tend to ignore these people ... LOL ...

It’s the same reason I ignore the “Truthers” too ... :-) ...

They have a legitimate fear.

Actually, I did see a black helicopter yesterday flying rather low. It was a Bell Ranger and could not see any markings on it. Don’t know who it belongs to but I have seen it in the past flying at much higher altitudes.

The people who use those products you’ve listed ... do have a concern.

Furthermore any data that has left the device and is on someone else’s network, the NSA can scoop it up. This part has nothing to do with the device, though.

I bet the Apple corp. is really upset by this. Here’s the better spy guys in the world, telling Apple to take a hike!

(maybe it’s because Apple is in bed with Barry?)

The NSA can turn on the mic or the camera. It doesn’t matter if the data is on their device, another server, or in the cloud! They can get to it no matter what.

I sense the Obama Connection has a great deal to do with the choice.

Here we see Barry with his new IBEANIE/// presented to him by none other than the Pope

That’s not true for the iPhone and the iPad, which is not jailbroken. I’m sure it’s true for the others that run other systems.

The iOS which is not jailbroken has never been shown to be compromised. One can’t install malware (or any software) remotely. And if it is not jailbroken, software cannot be loaded from the web or some malware site, even if you tried to do it.

The only place that software can be loaded onto the device is the one and only place of - the Apple App Store. And there ... they don’t even allow “spyware” that “you” may even want on your device. It’s simply not allowed in the store. All the software there is screened before allowing on the store. If something were to get by and someone reports it as spyware, afterwards, it would be pulled immediately.

The key here is NEVER JAILBREAK your iOS device, because then you defeat the security measures.

Why would “Apple Corps” care in the least whether Putin listens to Beatles music or not?

They don’t need to be jailbroken or have had malware installed. The NSA has had backdoors built into at least the Microsoft Windows OSes for them.

They simply don’t want the NSA to use those devices to eavesdrop on them.

That may be so for what you’ve described, but no one has ever shown that to be the case for the iOS from Apple - and neither has anyone detected anomalies which could raise warning flags or found extra data leaving the device.

I guess there’s always tomorrow ... :-) ...

But, in kind of a similar vein, I’ve been waiting for the “tomorrow” that many Apple-haters have told me “is going to happen” for about 30+ years.

They’ve been telling me for all this time that Apple is on the verge of going out of business, that it’s losing business and that it’s products are not selling and it can’t keep this up forever.

“I guess there’s always tomorrow.” ... LOL ...

Considering how many computer companies and telcos have been strongarmed into helping the Feds I would say the chance is pretty high Apple’s devices are compromised in some way.

Let’s see some document from Snowden on that happening with Apple ... :-) ...

AND ... if it has happened, you can bet Snowden has it!
