[North Carolina] Students, parents upset about nun's message about homosexuals

Charlotte Catholic High School is getting backlash from students and parents after a school assembly last week.

Students said that a guest speaker discussed offensive material about divorce and homosexuality.

Sister Jane Dominic, with Aquinas College in Nashville, has a doctorate in sacred theology.

But her message about the influence divorce has on gender identification and homosexuality didn't go over so well....

In an online petition, which now has close to 1,800 signatures, one student wrote "we found some of (the) ideas expressed to be both offensive and unnecessarily derogatory. We are incensed that you knew the content of this speech and allowed these ideas to be expressed in a school that should be preaching a message of love and acceptance."

...In the meantime, a second petition has also been created in support of Sister Jane Dominic's message. That petition has approximately 200 signatures.

The failure here was to bring in a nun to talk about Catholic teachings on homosexuality. Surely the school officials could have found some dissident nun, maybe a member of Nuns on a Bus, who would have been quite happy to promote moral decadence and teach these kids heresy.

If students and parents at a CATHOLIC high school were shocked and upset that a nun’s message would reflect Catholic doctrine and teaching, then maybe those students and parents arent the brightest bulbs in the chandolier.

Liberals want other ideas banned, and their intolerance is spread through the media and culture. This school has apparently done a very bad job teaching their faith

Just thought I give a word of advice to those parents that have children in Catholic Schools. Make sure you talk to the religion teacher and principal about their “Culture of Life Beliefs” because many hold contrary positions to Catholic teaching. This is so you can take measures to counter any false teaching. Between being a parent and teacher in Catholic schools for many years I learned that you can’t take the title of “Catholic” for granted.

Flying Nun over the target.

Dropped some truth-bombs ... apparently on target. She got a bunch of secondary explosions (leftists' heads exploding).

Might be the only time those kids who have been so thoroughly indoctrinated by the culture has ever heard the truth. The culture obviously trumps truth, in their tiny indoctrinated minds.

“Students said that a guest speaker discussed offensive material about divorce and homosexuality. “

I wasn’t offended at all. Honest.

Consider: How many of the parents have used or are using contraception? How many of the children know about this? How many of the parents are divorced-and-remarried without an annulment? How many of them are receiving Communion on Sunday? How many of the parents and students don’t go to Mass on Sunday? How many of the students and parents haven’t been to Confession for years on end?

When people aren’t practicing the Faith—and the statistics show that that number is huge—one of the easiest ways to prove they are “loving” and “accepting” is to take the “who-am-I-to-judge?” route. How easy it is to “love” and “accept” someone who has never hurt you anyway!

Some Catholic schools take in fairly large numbers of non-Catholic students. While most of them require students to attend religious services at the school and take religion classes, the students usually do not to to heart the Catholic teachings.

Non-Catholic parents send their kids to the schools for academics and the more disciplined atmosphere. But if mom and dad are homo-philes, the kids will be even more so.

I tried to find the % of non-Catholic students at the school, but couldn’t find it. If it gets too large, the school loses its identity.

Sodomy is just an alternative lifestyle.

Buggery just an amusing pastime.

Fornication and sin are outmoded and judgmental ideas.

Being “Gay Positive” are what all the cook kids are doing this year.

Are they not requiring Religion classes in CAtholic schools anymore??? The students are very secular. The parents are wasting money sending their little hedonists to Catholic schools when they don’t even respect the religion.
