” If he’s a bad boy, for any reason, the population will NOT assassinate him—his OWN BROTHERS and other MALE RELATIVES will.”

An interesting form of ‘checks and balances.’

“The KING, by the way, personally owns all the petroleum and natural gas in the KSA. That keeps all the wealthy and prominent families from all FIGHTING over it. Good solution to the problem. “

Good way to prevent chaos. It also prevents foreigners from coming in and buying any form of control over the national economy.

Thing is, that these women have some idea that they are so special, SO unique, SO smart, that they don’t have to worry about silly things like Saudi culture and that they are the Chosen One who will change all this or at least be granted rights denied to other women.

Just like women who marry abusive men or criminals or men who can’t be faithful.

Ladies, it’s hard enough to get him to lift a finger for our guys. You’re completely boned.

Call me crazy but I suspect some immigration deals will be made and more CAIR/other folks will end up with new CZAR positions in his regime cabinet.

Dopey is right. He does bow to King Abdulah.

Was that a MAJOR, HUGE, HUMILIATING faux pas or not? WHAT an idiot. Shows that he IGNORED the protocol....

NO one "bows" to the King...well, except maybe the wife who wants a new house without her sister wives knowing about it. :o)

SOMEONE taught them that balderdash. Maybe "nanny" did since both parents probably worked. Or maybe there was no "daddy" in the house because mommy did her own "store-bought" insemination because "daddy" was an unnecessary adjunct to her life.

So true. I have a quasi-friend whose father was an alcoholic...and she didn't MARRY one but shacked up with him for 40 years WHILE he remained married to the Chinese woman who snagged him in Taiwan when he went there with the military DECADES ago.

I hadn't thought of it in those terms but you are absolutely correct.

==================================

Good way to prevent chaos. It also prevents foreigners from coming in and buying any form of control over the national economy.

The original owners of the petroleum and natural gas were, of course, the Saudis. But they SOLD all their rights to the "BIG FOUR" oil companies: Exxon, Chevron, Mobile and Shell (which was Dutch) in the mid -1920's. I think that's right. It's been a long time.

In 1982 the King BOUGHT back those rights. Whew. He PROBABLY took the money out of his "chump change."

He started giving away oodles of money in the form of charity. He gave to BOTH Muslim and Christian countries. He never did, to my knowledge, give anything to Hindu countries...only to people "of the Book." (Bible, Koran)

.

It has always been hard for me to wrap my mind around: the King made a billion dollars every other day....1982.

Sheesh, America should know how many children are in Saudi that are born of American women who were foolish enough to marry Saudis.

Didn't they watch "Not Without My Daughter"?

“An interesting form of ‘checks and balances.’”

“I hadn’t thought of it in those terms but you are absolutely correct. “

Truth be told, I sincerely think that this is the best way for a monarchy to be run, with the relations keeping the Sovereign in check and the clan in general keeping things under control. The royals in the Arab nations know that if their king messes up big, it means that a firing squad will take the rest of them with the naughty king in a revolution.

“In 1982 the King BOUGHT back those rights. Whew.”

Smart thing to do; he has likely learned about the damage that foreign business interests do when they have a controlling stake in the country. Being seen as a toady to foreign interests is a sure way to get overthrown.

“He PROBABLY took the money out of his “chump change.””

There’s something funny about the way you said that.

“It has always been hard for me to wrap my mind around: the King made a billion dollars every other day....1982.”

What a way to live.
