Council passes e-cig ban in public places

E-DICULOUS. That's what vapers are calling a bill passed unanimously by City Council yesterday that adds e-cigarettes to Philly's existing ban on smoking.

Council also approved a sister measure that bans the sale of e-cigs to minors.

Councilman Bill Greenlee's proposal to regulate the product has been under fire for several weeks from advocates of e-cigs who've said the little electric invention has been a godsend.

Greg Conley, a volunteer with the nonprofit research group National Vapers Club and an e-cigarette lobbyist, said e-cigs weaned him off smoking for good and probably saved his life.

Conley was one of five who spoke out in white-hot opposition to the bill yesterday in Council chambers. He pulled an e-cig from his jacket pocket and took a puff.

"Not a single study has ever found any harmful level of any chemical produced by the vapor of an electronic cigarette," he said. "This...

Philadelphia sure has its priorities straight. I bet all of these idiots are in favor of legalizing pot. Wonder how many of them are on the list of corrupt politicians caught in that sting that AG Kane refuses to prosecute. Not enough whites and zero republicans were caught.

Obviously, this has nothing to do with health. State governments are happy as clams with marijuana smokers puffing and paying taxes on this newest way to destroy your lungs. Governments will be happier when they tax e-cigs at the sane rate, because they don’t want to give up revenue from smoking tobacco or marijuana.

As soon as they find out from some “study” that it’s harmful, they’ll legalize it and tax the crap out of it.

Smoking Nazi’s continue to set the pace in the war on freedom.

I know I’ll get slammed but, smoking was the testing ground for the relinquishing of freedom...it worked very well and is duplicated in every aspect of the destruction of a Free Republic. IMO

BTW...I am not a smoker, but I feel like starting just to piss off the Nazi’s.

this is happening everywhere...and I'll tell you why....

the little nazis can't stand it that entrepreneurs one upped them by creating this wonderful safe electronic cigarette that has helped so many people quit smoking or at least reduce their consumption...

and to think...instead of smoking the highly taxed cigarettes these people are smoking their electronic cigs and gosh darn it, WE WANT THAT TAX MONEY you know so we can run millions of dollars of anti smoking ads funded by the cigarette industry...

they refuse to let people get off the tax man grid...

You are absolutely spot on......banning smoking in government owned facilities was one thing......but the minute they banned smoking in privately owned restaurants, bars, etc, they threw us over the cliff. That was all they needed and the smoking nazis who supported this just didn’t get that it wasn’t about smoking but about control.

Sounds like Philli is just like the Marxist state of New York city where the city council does nothing but ban and ban and ban and ban and they get paid 6 figures for doing it even though it’s a part time job. What I find interesting is they will ban something and if people find a work-around to the ban, they will ban that as well which tells me everything they ban is not about public safety but about control.

For example they banned motor scooters a few years ago claiming they harm the environment. So people started riding electric scooters instead. So they banned that as well. Imagine that: You lay out money for an expensive scooter and now you can’t ride it.

Same with the smoking, they banned smoking so people started smoking E-cigarettes and without blinking an eye that was banned. Oh yes, and when the smokers were forced outside to smoke, the city council also saw that as cheating so they banned smoking outside as well. Like say if you are at a bar, you can’t go outside and smoke in front of the place or a cop can give you a ticket (but they rarely do). Also you can’t smoke in parks or anywhere in Times square. Pretty much any place there is a crowd of people which just about covers the entire NYC area. I moved a few years ago, best thing I ever did. I like to tell people NYC is like North Korea but with food. Every aspect of your life is dictated, and I mean EVERY aspect right down to the bedroom. They were demanding couples use condoms a few years ago even for MARRIED couples..What are they going to do, send in SWAT to bash down your door while your doing it? Every aspect of your life is dictated...but hey, at least you won’t starve.

Much more importantly, they should ban moisture. VERY DANGEROUS STUFF.

There are products called hemp-oil, hash-oil, etc that are compatible with e-cigarettes. The question that I would have is “Did they ban the delivery device, or the delivered product?”

(THC based oils being taxed in those states with legal sales)

except in this case they banned it in public places so they are relinquishing the money for control. There will become private clubs where you can do what you want. cigars now, ecig’s next. its already in philly above Holts.

Anti-smoking nazis are amongst the worst sort. The ‘smoke’ from e-cigs is water vapor. Every single human being on the planet exhales water vapor every single time they breathe. These people are insane.

Legalizing pot and banning e-cigs may have something in common from the liberal perspective, and have little to do with a regard for the health of humans.

E-cigs offer an alternative to smoking tobacco, and the opportunity to quit smoking tobacco.

Tobacco and pot are heavily taxed.

Should I continue?

Oh yeah, another thing I forgot to mention: Being that it’s a fascist state they regularly try to steal every last cent you have with massive fines for the slightest offense. Tina Fey found that out today...

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/Tina-Fey-workers-comp-judgment-675432

A good friend of mine was put out of business a few years ago running a newsstand when his fines got close to $100,000. This stuff is no joke, this is what liberals want for the rest of the country. People who don’t believe fascism can’t happen in the USA? I tell them spend some time in New York city.
