GM halts most Chevy Cruze sales
CNN Money ^ | March 28, 2014

General Motors has halted the sale of most of the Chevrolet Cruzes now on dealers' lots. The Cruze is GM's best selling U.S. car model.

Spokesman Alan Adler confirmed that GM has ordered a halt to sales of models with the 1.4-liter turbo engine, the most popular version of the compact car. Adler did not give the reason for the halt, and said there hasn't been a recall issued on cars already sold.

The news comes as GM deals with a damaging recall of 1.6 million small cars worldwide to deal with an ignition switch flaw that has been linked to at least 12 deaths.

The ignition cuts off, the car crashes and the air bags don’t deploy because the power is off....people die. That is what has been happening.

I went to a car show.

My observations are that GM makes decent cars, but the other car companies are now making great cars.

The one great car that GM makes is the Chevy Volt. It is reasonably large and comfortable and is very fuel efficient and does not look bad or cost too much.

The other unbelievably good cars are for a large car, the Toyota Avalon hybrid, 40 mpg city and highway, car is big and roomy and looks great and costs about 38k.

Next up is the Nissan Altima also at 40 mpg, big roomy but not as luxurious as the avalon. I’ve rented on and this thing rocks for handling. It comes in at about 23,000.

Next is the Toyota Corolla, again at 40 mpg, small but still comfortable and costs about 18k.

http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2014/01/usa-midsize-car-sales-figures-december-2013-year-end.html

According to this, they sold 23,094 Volts in calendar year 2013.

Compare with 400,000 Camrys, 200,000 Malibus and nearly 300,000 Ford Fusions

Why would any FReeper consider buying anything from Gubermnint Motors???

DING!!! Why'd it take four posts to get to the point that any self-respecting Freeper would REFUSE to buy a car from any automobile company that STOLE our Taxpayer dollars, never paid them back, AND by the force of government stripped debt and bondholders rights away to literally give two major American automakers to UNIONS (GM/Chrysler Corporation) and forced the sale of one to an Italian Automaker (FIAT)

Anyone who buys a GM or Chrysler/Fiat product should turn in their Freeper membership and OPUS themselves off this forum.

Buying a car from GM and Chrysler/Fiat is UNAMERICAN and transfers your heard earned money to UNIONS. NEVER, EVER will I buy a GM or Chrysler product going forward.

Me too. As much as I literally drool over a Challenger SRT I refuse to buy one.

Wife and I have been going back and forth over which sports car we'll be buying soon. I prefer the Challenger because it's a bigger car, more room, even despite it being the slowest of the top three muscle cars/sports cars sold (Mustang, Camaro, Challenger.)

We're going with the Mustang GT. As much as I really like the looks of the Challenger, I just cannot give my money to a car company that stole our tax payer dollars, saw to it that legal debt holders rights were stripped by force of the Federal Government in favor of Democrat Controlled Unions, and who was forcefully sold to an Italian Car company (FIAT.)

Last thing I want to drive now is a FIAT Challenger.

Ford Mustang GT (2015) here we come!

Please tell me you meant the Chevy Malibu and not the Volt.

I bought a used 2012 Chevy Equinox last November, so far its been a great car, has the 2.4 direct injected engine, has AWD which I have found worked flawlessly during the Alaska winter.

After replacing all the lights with HID and LED, a new set of Blizzak tires the performance in snow was the best I have seen for any compact SUV, and was much cheaper than a Subaru.

I really am not a Ford fan and we do not have any foreign car dealership around here.

Government Motors doesn’t want to give Ted Cruz free name recognition.

Going to replace them with a fleet of Chevy Feinsteins...

I wish all HID headlights were outlawed. I don't care what lights you run in your MOOSE lights but hid's on low beam are the absolute worst invention of recent years. They show a total lack of respect for other drivers. They blind oncoming traffic for several minutes after they pass.

I drive a 2009 Mustang and I refuse to put HID's in it out of respect for others. I put Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in and find them sufficient for legal speed driving. The low beams are 55w, compliant with all equipment laws.

I drove 189 miles per day for seventeen years. My past cars, a chevy Cavalier and a Pontiac Grand Am, Had Auxiliary Moose lights hooked to the high beams. They consisted of two 9" Light force lights and two 5" HID's. They worked greeat, but when I went to low beam, I had legal 55w lights, correctly aimed they do not blind other drivers. You do what you want, but when some novice driver loses control because he can't see, hits you head-on you may re-think your position.

The cars in question were the econobox Cobalts and it’s mutations.

Supposedly if you have 5 pounds of useless junk on your key ring it wears out the lock and can cause it to slip out of the “run” position.

Malibu is a very good car, it is the best non volt car in the entire GM lineup. Unfortunately, the Nissan Altima is not very good, it is unbelievably good with better accel and handling than the Malibu, better gas mileage, better looking, might be roomier and is a little cheaper.

The Volt is a class leader in an electric vehicle with a gas generator for back up. Next year the Volt may not be class leader, but for now it is.

I live in Alaska, in the winter we only have a few hours of daylight. Gotta man up to live here, regular lights just don’t cut it anymore and in ALASKA it actually puts you and your loved ones in harms way if you rely upon what has been the norm, we call it adaptation.
Its the facts FRiend.

If its done correctly its a better light, but I do admit many a yahoo just shoves a 55 watt HID 4300K capsule in a Ford flat fresnel lens headlight and of course you get a massive light scatter and glare.

My vehicles use either parabolic projectors or clear cut housings with internal hood shields over the capsules.

But why would anyone care to become educated about lights?

I mean after over a decade of installing HID kits in quite a few vehicles and in most of my 12 motorcycle collection and being the owner of a custom LED flashlight manufacturing business plus a decent other business of restorations of Classic Honda Goldwings why would I want to drive or ride anything that will blind people and run them off the road?

HID is good but there is a transition period and some cars or trucks just do not adapt well to these lights.

And my ancestors no doubt were often harassed by people still on horses when they were on 4 wheels.
