Hey, I read it on the internet, so it must be true!

All joking aside, I had a neighbor when we lived in the MatSu, homesteaded his place in 1942. I once asked him if he ever thought Alaska would become it's own commonwealth or country. He said no way, Alaskans are becoming more like Americans everyday; and I have to agree with him. We don't have all your taxes and have way more freedom than you all down there can even fathom; but always will be tied socially, economically, and politically to the USA.

Lots of Russkies here already, but they left Russia for a reason and none want to go back. They'll say that some things are better there like healthcare and everybody gets a govt sponsored 2 week vacation on a cabin on the blk sea, but economics is light years ahead here. I have one Russian buddy, his wife is a lefty, but my buddy is conservative and they like life in Alaska. Got their citizenship and bought their first house last year, achieving the American DReam he told me. H does think Russian Hockey is still better than USA. Russkies in Alaska are just like all other Americans, and their kids speak English like our kids do, without a Russian Accent.
