Hospitals were a much different breed when our mothers delivered. I stayed 2 nights after each of mine. I was more than ready to leave by then!

My doctor - who was not a specialist - had five women who were due to delivery within the same week. Just so happened that it was also the opening week of pheasant season in Kansas. All of us were induced so we could all go in, have our babies and come home in no more than three days because all the husbands and the docs had a hunting trip planned.

Everybody made it on schedule, the guys had a great time hunting and the freezers were all full for the fall season. So went life in the early 1960’s!
