Pondering the Anti-Israel Double Standard

Last month, a lot of noise was made in response to the suggestion by MK Moti Yogev (Bayit Yehudi) that the pressure being exerted upon Israel by Secretary of State John Kerry “may have anti-Semitic undertones.” Yogev’s remarks were made in the wake of Kerry’s not-so-subtle threat that Israel would face boycotts if his “peace negotiation” effort fails.

It is widely recognized that boycotts of Israel, among other forms of economic warfare, are motivated by hatred and a desire to seek Israel’s destruction, and therefore deserve no legitimacy. That is presumably why the remark by Kerry that initiated the matter drew the ire of many of the same critics as Yogev did with his response. Why then did they in turn suggest that Yogev was wrong to raise his concern? Aren’t inappropriate or anti-Semitic undertones possible even where intent is absent, and even when uttered by a Secretary of State? It is, of course, up to the reader to estimate for himself the intentions of Secretary Kerry and whether MK Yogev’s suggestion was legitimate or out of line.

More recently, Kerry again drew criticism after suggesting that although the United States recognizes Israel as the Jewish state, Israel's insisting that the Palestinian-Arabs do as much –thereby inherently recognizing the connection of the Jewish People to the Land - is a mistake.

One can’t help but notice that these and other recent episodes offer the opportunity to explore the unique world of the anti-Israel double standard – one of the hallmarks of the 3-D Test of Anti-Semitism. For example:

Why is denying the historic fact of the Holocaust considered anti-Semitic, while denying the historic fact of the Jewish People’s connection to the Land of Israel is not?

Since the Democrat party has officially renounced God, I wonder how long it will be before they officially endorse antisemitism?

I saw a “breakthrough” of sorts with a Democrat even before Obama was elected. He had both been hatefully ranting against Jews and Israel, while insisting he was not antisemitic and only hated Israel as a nation. But other people kept calling him on it, that he *was* indeed an antisemite.

Frustrated, he finally blurted out a key, “If...then” statement. “Well, if I think (anti-Israel rant)... then I guess I *am* an antisemite!”

That he was able to break through his hypocrisy and say what he really thought, and that being called an antisemite meant less to him than his hate for Jews and Israel, showed that he, and perhaps other Democrats, are reaching a turning point.

A point where they masks come off and they publicly proclaim their antisemitism from the rooftops. And I fear they are getting close to doing this today.

Remember that not long ago, a large part of the Democrat party, the Dixiecrats, briefly split off because of their hatred of blacks. But since then, their hatred of others has been slowly simmering, building up pressure.

They hate so many people that when it does explode against whatever group they focus on, it is going to be savage. And as things stand, Jews are the number one candidate for all this hatred.

Israel builds industry, universities and hospitals (that also treat Arabs and Palestinians) and do research that benefits all mankind, and practice democracy, while Palestinians preach hate, destruction, and vow to wrap their children in explosives and send them to crowded places in Israel. Yet, Israel is the bad guy. Nowhere is there a better example of a double standard.
