Cleveland Clinic CEO: 3/4 Of Obamacare Signups Will Face Higher Premiums
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 3/30/14 | Staff

A leading healthcare expert poured cold water on the administration’s recent Obamacare enthusiasm, saying that three quarters of those signed up will face higher premiums than under their previous insurance. “Out of people that have signed up about three quarters will find premiums higher than previously with other insurance,” Dr. Toby Cosgrove, CEO of the Cleveland Clinic said on Fox News Sunday. “Hospitals are going to be paid less for what they do,” Cosgrove continued. “And we also know insurers are paying less too. We have to become more efficient in how we deliver care which is a big changefor health care providers.”

If 40 million Americans were without health care before 0bamaCare, how come 40 million people haven’t signed up for insurance? Something like 6 million signed up. A successful program would be 40 million signing up.

Because they chose not to have insurance to begin with. If they didn't buy it when it was better and cheaper, what makes the government think they will now buy an inferior version of it at a higher cost? Idiots.

That is why the Democrats will take a shellacking in November.

Obamacare means people pay higher premiums and get fewer benefits.

I’d love to see the Democrats tell people how they’ll fix it.

And a lot of them signed up for Obamacare because they lost their previous insurance. And we don't know how many are making monthly premiums.

The thing is, we'll never get rid of it now. The best we'll be able to do is get rid of the mandate. Why? The 'pubs instead of defunding it decided to use it as a campaign issue. Voters response is going to be to wonder why the 'pubs didn't stop funding it....nobody likes weakness and being ineffectual.

Aww, forget the higher premiums, the higher deductibles is the real story. Insurance for my wife and I went up nearly $300 a month, but deductibles for both of us went up $8,000 a year.

When our jobs dry up very soon, it will be ‘self insurance’ for the two of us. And I would rather have the nearly $800 a month in cash rather than nearly useless insurance.

Low information voters expected free health care and no premiums. You get that on Medicaid.

The expansion of which is the only salutary thing Obamacare has going for it.

All the rest are lies and broken promises.

"We have to become more efficient in how we deliver care which is a big changefor health care providers." -- Dr. Toby Cosgrove Right, Doctor Cosgrove. You put the feds in charge, and things will be much more efficient. What planet do you live on?

Dr. Cosgrove, you full well know that, in 2011, your hospital and doctors selected from 18,000 codes to describe medical services in bills they sent to insurers. When the Emperor introduced Obamacare, 140,000 codes were added from the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision.

Yessiree, that's really going to improve health care efficiency. Can you imagine the plight of the keypunch clerk to find the right code? Efficiency is going to soar!

Obamacare is generating more political losers than political winners.

It doesn’t help the Democrats who are saddled with an unpopular law they all voted for.

Don’t want to accuse the headline of not being the truth but the truth is 100% will see increases in their cost of health insurance for having signed up under obamacare.

That's interesting. I wonder how many Obamacare boosters in the medical community have yet to be heard from? I would think that we won't hear from most of them since they may have a sense of shame, obviously lacking in the Cleveland Clinic.

Higher premiums are one thing. Most people may be able to adjust to a higher monthly premium.

What is going to kill, is the deductibles. It will wipe out any savings most people have by November. The mid-terms should be interesting.
