Senator: 'There's No Such Thing as Obamacare'
The Weekly Standard ^ | March 30,2014 | DANIEL HALPER

Posted on 03/31/2014 6:06:14 AM PDT by Hojczyk

Senator Angus King, an independent senator from Maine who caucuses with the Democrats, said this morning on Fox that "There's no such thing as Obamacare."

"Two points if I may, sir," says Fox host Chris Wallace. "One, then why is Harry Reid saying he's not going to allow a vote on the fixes? And, two, speak directly and briefly, becase we're about to run out of time, to Senator Barrasso's comment that a lot of doctors, a lot of hospitals are being excluded by what Obamacare is offering."

"Now, now that's a big -- There is no such thing as Obamacare. You can't sign up for Obamacare. You sign up for an Anthem policy or an Aetna policy or a WellPoint policy. It's private insurance," said King.

All part and parcel of the Kabuki theater production as we head toward a “single payer” system.

Whatever they choose to call it, Obamacare belongs to the Democrats and Obama.

What I find frustrating is the way "health insurance" is conflated with "healthcare". Obamacare does not provide new access to healthcare. Prior to Obamacare there were free clinics, emergency rooms and public health clinics that provided healthcare to those without health insurance and without the means to pay. The free care was subsidized by those with the means to pay.

Obamacare does not solve a healthcare access issue. Instead, it uses government to redistribute wealth and buy the votes of certain favored groups. It also uses government to force the liberal agenda (feminism, gay rights, birth control, abortion, and so on) on the entire country. Obamacare allows the government to expand the scope of the IRS, gives the government access to your bank account, and allows the government access to the most intimate aspects of your life.

Obamacare is not about healthcare. It will destroy our healthcare system. Obamacare is about control.

Control is the overarching goal,

but I think Obama’s primary motivation is to hurt people who’ve “had it too good”,

ie, those who, through their life decisions, ended up buying their own health insurance or through their employers.

Actually, it's the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Nobody wants to talk about patient protection, either.

You sign up for an Anthem policy or an Aetna policy or a WellPoint policy ... AFTER you sign up for subsidies on Obamacare websites.

The subsidies are actually going to the insurance companies ... as are the premiums ... because people would not have signed up for "Anthem, Aetna or Wellpoint" otherwise.

The whole scheme is a giant subsidy of insurance companies (and hospital conglomerates, drug companies and to a lesser extent doctors). Otherwise, why were they so eager to go along with it?

I am certain there are kickbacks somewhere in this humongous scheme. It may take a few years to suss them out.

Already we know that crafters of PPACA (Obamacare) are now getting lucrative jobs lobbying for changes to the laws and working for giant health related companies advising them on the ins and outs of Obamacare. ObamaCare's architects reap windfall as Washington lobbyists

Native Mainers (of which I am one) say that Maine split from Massachusetts 200 years ago, and Mass has been buying the state back, one house lot at a time.

It ain't the same place I grew up in, that's for sure.

LOL. Yes, I remember the day well, the day Pelosi walked through the TEA Party demonstration with the huge Gavel, to force the vote.

I remember posting a “live thread,” calling it ObamaCare. I had all the “experienced” FReepers jumping all over me, “IT’S NOT OBAMACARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cyber Liberty, you are an IDIOT!” They complained to the Moderators to change the title to “Pelosicare,” then it got stuffed into cheeseville.

It’s been called what I called it ever since. I do remember that very well.
