IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa continues to maintain an internal “do not rehire” list of fired employees who are barred from returning to state employment, even though judges have raised questions about its legality, according to a review by The Associated Press.
Since 2009, judges have said three times that the Iowa Department of Administrative Services doesn’t have “the statutory or regulatory authority” to issue lifetime employment bans against fired workers, but the list has steadily grown, records show....

Just wondering... would this practice be the problem of litigation in the private sector? Not that there aren’t a lot of awful public (or ex-) employees.

We, in the Maine Secession movement, are doing the same thing, we are making a list of state employees and departments that will not be needed and will not be hired into the few jobs the Republic will have after secession.
With no Income tax we really don’t need a lot of people in the tax dept, with absolutely no roll for the Republic in education and environment, we really won’t need a bunch of leftist tax dollar suckers.

I suspect if the Massholes stop buying property up there (and paying ridiculous taxes for ocean views) and the rest of the country puts import taxes on pulp and “lobstas”, you’ll be singing a different tune for “Secession”.

Look at Maine on a map of the US and Canada, can you think of a better independent country, we have natural resources galore, we have oil and gold, silver and maybe coal, farm lands and woods and fishing, all we need to utilize those things is to be free of the EPA and politicians that take bribes, skim and put sex with members of the same sex and children light years ahead of the prosperity of the people, a simple vote to secede and we are free, free from the EPA, the dept of energy, education, the NSA, CIA, FBI, and Planned parenthood.
By the way, did I mention we would be a perpetual war with the UN, thereby prohibiting us from ever fighting in one of there 'peace keeping fiascoes', common core, agenda 21, forced abortions, vaccination programs, or rights of the child gun grabs.

I'm guessing you prefer socialism and obama to freedom, I would rather live with a wood stove and canned food than the socialism of the US.
But let's address your issues.

Why would they stop coming here for vacation? Why would they stop paying taxes, they would be lower? Why would the US treat us, concerning imports, any differently than they treat Canada?

Without the EPA and other federal agencies our business climate will change within 24 hours.
Clam juice will contain only clam juice and as far as old populations are concerned, well, we are counting on that to win the secession vote, a younger population with heads full of mush would croak us.
But freedom is not for everyone, nor is accepting the risk and responsibilities that come with being free, but, thank God those who don't wish to live free have the rest of the socialist world to choose from.
You’d be surprised. I fired a parks worker who had just picked up a load of jail trustees and then stopped to buy by a half case of beer (strike 1) and then offered the trustees some of the beer (strike 2 and 3).
He just looked at me dumbfounded when I handed him his check...
I am surprised that a ‘Parks worker’ had control over a group of jail trustees. We just had a new park built across the street from my house that was the site of an old and outdated sewage treatment plant. It took years to tear down and create the park. The menial labor was supplied by the jail trustees, but there was always a guard supervisor there to watch them, not the parks people.......................
They just have to be certified which is a two hour class. The trustee types we had were all in for long term DUI convictions and were not local citizens. Some of these guys were in for 2 years. Turns out that the judge that sentenced them had a son that was killed by a drunk driver and so he sentenced them based upon his vengeance.
That was until the state supreme court got wind of it and over turned their convictions. I had to take pick them up from one of the parks and take them back to jail for immediately release and they couldn’t believe it. I had got to know these guys for well over a year and we often bought them lunches and smokes because at the end of the day they were hard workers.
Here in Florida, DUI manslaughter will get you 4 years minimum................many get 15 - 25 years................
These weren’t DUI manslaughter more like 2nd offenses. I should have been more clear.
