Why Democrats need a stellar jobs report Friday

Every jobs report has political significance given the extent to which Republicans and Democrats attempt to spin the numbers to their best advantage. But this Friday's March employment report is especially critical following the weak winter numbers and the impending midterm election season.

Democrats are fervently hoping that the lackluster reports over the last three months were mostly the result of a brutal winter that delayed construction projects and slowed other industries that might otherwise have hired more workers.

Most analysts right now agree that is probably the case. The consensus forecast for Friday's jobs number is 200,000 with the unemployment rate ticking down to 6.6 percent from 6.7 percent.

IIRC this is a Household Survey month, not an ADP month, which means the numbers are not verified by any source outside of the BLS. They could very well be quite good [and 100% bogus.]

“Well, guess it depends on who’s doing the counting...”

lol..the dept of labor using census figures in the calculations, and the Obama admin wanted to put the census bureau under rahm Emanuel, the sneakiest shyster in government.

It does not matter why the need a good jobs report, since all they have to do is write what ever they think the folks in flyover country will believe.

My guess is under 6.5% unemployed.

A stellar jobs report has been ordered up and will be duly delivered on Friday. The BLS will say 250,000+ new jobs and a reduction in UE to 6.4%

Remember, it doesn’t have to be truthful... only helpful.

They need a stellar report. They will get a stellar report.

Remember the scandal when it turned out the Census Dept. cooked the numbers for Oct 2012 to get the unemployment rate under 8% in time for the election?

Oh, that's right! There was no scandal.

It did happen.

It was reported but...no scandal...no nothing...

They will make up a stellar report and then revise it down slightly next week. But none of it will be truthful. Nothing these people say is truth. They have to work really hard to maintain the facade. Must be exhausting to make up lie after lie and expect belief. I’m wondering why more folks haven’t figured it out.
