Absolutely. Between Mediaid expansion and plan subsidies, and the pushback of the mandates, Obamacare manifesting as a big new welfare program. Welfare programs only need to be successful for their beneficiaries to be politically successful, because they create ardent supporters and diffuse ineffective opponents. Republicans have never liked welfare and yet have literally once in the 50 years since the launch of the Great Society actually done anything to restrain welfare programs’ growth.
Sadly true. Incumbent Republicans like to give out goodies just as much as incumbent or challenger Democrats.
