2016 Elections: Is Palin the GOP’s Answer to Hillary Clinton?
The Wall Street Cheat Sheet ^ | April 2, 2014 | Anthea Mitchell

Posted on 04/02/2014 5:16:56 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Will Sarah Palin run against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election? No, it’s safe to say that she likely won’t. Though, as she said herself when asked, “never say never.” She followed the statement up by adding, “I don’t have a team of people, you know, getting out there doing these poll-tested whatever they do to let you know if you should run or not. I don’t have any of that kind of organization going,” according to The Examiner. While her candidacy would certainly be welcomed by some within the GOP, especially further to the right – including the Tea Party — that doesn’t supersede the odds.

That hasn’t stopped back and forth discussion on whether or not she should run, on whether or not the idea has merit. When it comes down to it, Palin’s resurgence has to do with a number of things. She’s being suggested as a solution to the GOP’s failure to compete with Democratic candidates, and failure to reach potential voters by alienating possible swing votes with overemphasis on certain issues, and underemphasis on others. She’s female and has played a prominent role in past presidential elections, running as Vice President to John McCain, so when Republicans scramble for a woman’s voice in their party that could compete with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, her name is near the surface.

Of course, that doesn’t make her the only woman in the Republican party being considered for a roll in 2016. Kelly Ayotte’s name has been batted around quite a bit for the Vice Presidency, though on who’s ticket is still uncertain. “Ayotte could turn the ‘war on women’ narrative into a punch line,” said Steve Schmidt, manager of John McCain’s 2008 bid....

Condi gives you a two fer. She is black and a woman.

Plus she likes football and nascar.

The negative on her is that she is a self made prodigy.

That would be a plus in the old USA, but somehow in the new USA it is bad. It is good to be successful now only if you can give credit to society as a whole for your success.

That way, society feels good about you and itself. An individual who does well despite society is a threat to society and makes society fell bad.

In terms of the new movie Divergent, Condi Rice and Mitt Romney are divergent and the rest of society feels bad that they exist.

Her silver spoon, no matter how you think she got there, doesn’t qualify her for the gold. IMO.

Not a problem, we all get in a rush and/or misread things.

There were only three networks plus PBS in 1980. The conservative Internet didn’t exist. But somehow a conservative beat a sitting president. Hillary is not an incumbent.

If I may, I think ObamahatesPACoal's comment was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the GOP's growing tendency to push people who are indistinguishable from their Democrat counterpart.
(e.g. Obama and Romney).

Yes, together with Nicole Wallace, who later claimed they had a scheme to keep Gov. Palin from being sworn in as vice president if they had won. Really.

There are a lot more people dependent on a govt. check than in 1980.

And a lot of boomer kids are spoiled brats who aspire to a govt. check and “fairness” in society.

I don’t think Reagan could have beaten Obama either in 2008 or 2012.

I agree with your statement. However I lost faith in the American people when as bad as the economy was, and almost every promise made by Obama was a traceable lie they still reelected the bafoon who had less leadership experience than a Jr level supervisor at a small company.

I no longer have faith in half the population. To me they are far too ignorant to make right decisions. Half the population is on the government dole, half the population believe in nothing, half the population has to integrity, i could go on and on. I fear for my children. Thanks public education you were successful with your goals.
