Bevin appeared and spoke at a pro-cockfighting gathering and tried to shrug it away with a states-rights argument. It's easy to blow such an even off... once you're already elected, but when you're trying to sell yourself as someone who will ably represent the interests of the citizens of the state, that sales job gets far more difficult.
I did not realize there was a pro cockfighting lobby. Who is in to cockfighting besides Mexicans these days?
I guess my two questions would be: 1. Did he know what the folks at the gathering represented? 2. Is cock fighting legal in KY? If the answer to #2 is in the affirmative, then I’d have to say all citizens deserve the opportunity to participate in the election process and he has the right to speak to ALL the people who will be part of his constituency if he gets elected. As far as I’m concerned, he has the right to campaign at a Hell’s Angel bar or a gay bar; if he so chooses.
