Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee lead the field of potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates, according to a poll released Saturday.

Huckabee and Paul each won support from 13 percent of likely Republican voters when asked whom they would vote for if the 2016 Republican primary were held today. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was close behind with 11 percent, while New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz each received 9 percent.

Rand Paul tallied 13 percent again when respondents were asked which candidate they thought could defeat Hillary Clinton in the general election, while Huckabee's support slipped to 8 percent. Christie scored 13 percent, Bush got 8 percent, and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio earned 9 percent.

Cruz will quit and endorse Rand. Mark my words.

With any luck, Paul will pick Cruz for the VP slot to shore up socons.

Runt Paul will never get the votes of anyone but the paultards. Libtardians have a perfect record of never winning a race for anything.

“HUCK? Where’d he come from?”

The Huckster has always been popular but wasn’t being included in the polls. That changed when he quit from his radio show and said he might run for president again.

Both are non-starters.

for one thing, the SANTUCKABEE vote (and lets face it, it’s the same folks) would not break 4-1 in favor of Huck over Santorum…..

While I completely agree with your premise that there's not a dimes worth of difference between the two, you've got to admit that SANT has better 'optics' than UCKABEE .....

oh .... wait ......

LOL…..great pictoral teachable moment.

However, much as I think Santorum is a losing proposition….he’s not quite as bad as the Huckster…….I mean, I don’t think Santorum has fallen for Common Core…(yet).

They have the same voting record on social issues. Their positions are the same. Rand has a 100% rating from the national right to life committee and from the ACU.

Why is Huckabee always at the top of the list?

Do not let the media choose our candidate.
Huckabee, Christie and Ryan aren’t even close.

Reagan was a Republican, not a Libtardian.

The key to this story comes after the excerpt.

Chris Wilson, CEO of WPA Opinion Research, which conducted the survey, said the poll suggests Republicans haven't learned the lessons of elections past, according to The Washington Times.

"Christie is clearly not the first choice among GOP voters overall, but when you look at which candidate Republicans believe can beat Hillary Clinton there is evidence that the theory a moderate Republican can beat a liberal Democrat still holds some sway," Wilson said. "It’s a shame some Republicans haven’t learned the lessons of nominating moderate candidates like Bob Dole, John McCain, or Mitt Romney."

No thanks. We drive the bus or we don't ride it. We're not here to be 'shored up' and we sure aren't here to be patronized.

Are you kidding?

A single use of the word libertarian before he switches to promoting conservatism in a 60 Minutes interview?

Reagan was no libertarian, he was a conservative and rightfully believed that you guys were liberals on 2/3rds of the issues.

Their positions are the same.

You lie a lot in your posts, Paul is staking out the rino territory to the left of Cruz, for instance coming out in support of gay marriage and dropping it, and social conservatism from the platform.

Also coming out on the left in foreign policy, and immigration.

Cruz is trying to move the party right, while Paul is trying to move the party left.

Huckabee and his Common Core love is a non-starter for me.

I think Huckabee is a decent fellow. But I'm with you. I am against anyone who is for "common core" under any name or branding.
