Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs predicted Wednesday that the employer mandate will be “one of the first things to go,” during lengthy remarks on Obamacare.
“I don’t think the employer mandate will go into effect. It’s a small part of the law. I think it will be one of the first things to go,” Gibbs said Wednesday during a speech at the 2014 Benefits Selling Expo in Colorado Springs, according to trade publication BenefitsPro.

The individual mandate needs to be dumped

I would prefer to see the word "mandate" completely removed from every page. It would kill it, without actually killing it. BO would never sign a bill repealing it; and, none of the Dems would vote for a bill repealing it; but, maybe, just maybe, the removal of the word "mandate" from every page of it would do the trick and some could vote for that.
The fact that we have such a monstrosity foisted on the backs of the American people, which has the word "mandate" within it, is simply un-American. We are a free people --- or, at least we used to be.

Gibbs is a lying punk. He was one of the biggest promoters of Obamacare and went on endlessly about how anyone opposed to it lacked compassion and was a right wing nut. These two faced hypocrites change their story over and over again.
Single payer - it’s what they always wanted.
But it did, and now we're screwed.
It's too late to dump it all now. Millions of sick people have now signed up who had pre-existing conditions. Taking their insurance away now would be literally a death sentence. And no politican is going to vote for anything that will kill millions of people, it's just not going to happen.
You can pretend that is going to happen, but it wont.
Sure there is some possibility Obamacare could be repealed, but there is no way in this life that congress will also take away the healthcare coverage of all those who signed up. They will be grandfathered and allowed to keep their coverage as long as they continue to pay their premiums. Which will mean the millions of sick people with pre-existing conditions will still be covered even after repeal. Which means rates will SKYROCKET. And then guess who will get the blame for that?
We are screwed no matter how I look at this.

Obama’s Cr*pCare could be abolished and affordable alternatives could be substituted.

Only with you and friends paying for others in addition to yourself via “subsidies”.
Bro-in-Law...Obama cancelled his old affordable insurance and the Cr*pcare alternative was 50% higher with less coverage.
Mom-in-Law, was paying $313/month. The Cr*pcare of Obama was $659/month. Happily you, me and all the other chumps are paying via taxes and higher premiums, higher deductibles and less coverage to pay for $658 or her $659 monthly premium.
Dittos for all the other “subsidized” sign ups.

But I just wanted to point out the fact that congress will never vote to take away the insurance of those who now have it.
That's just a fact. Don't blame the messenger.
There is a better chance of congress retracting the 1980’s amnesty granted to illegal aliens then and deporting them in mass, because at least no one would die doing that.
In other words, there is no chance that congress will vote to take away insurance from sick people or allow the insurance companies to dump them.
Which means all those sick people who rushed to get coverage will be stuck on the insurance rolls and will drive up the costs for everyone to extreme levels.
Actually there is a way out. A state could create a "re-insurance" association. It's sort of a backwards high-risk pool. It could take all the "grandfathered" high claims people out of the standard risk pool.
Since the RATs practically destroyed all insurance regs, given repeal, a state could probably create a high risk pool as well for new pre-x applicants.
This would grant everyone universal access to coverage, and keep the guaranteed losses separate from potential losses.
That's what keep premiums low for healthy people.
By the way, the actual percentage of insured in the "high risk" categories are typically between 1 and 2%.
Or you make a few free market reforms and let it die as technology and the market lower medical costs.
