Rube Goldberg Survives (Obamacare's "Stunning" Comeback)
The New York Times ^ | April 3, 2014 | Paul Krugman

Posted on 04/03/2014 8:22:19 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Holy seven million, Batman! The Affordable Care Act, a k a Obamacare, has made a stunning comeback from its shambolic start. As the March 31 deadline for 2014 coverage approached, there was a surge in applications at the “exchanges” — the special insurance marketplaces the law set up. And the original target of seven million signups, widely dismissed as unattainable, has been surpassed.

But what does it mean? That depends on whether you ask the law’s opponents or its supporters. You see, the opponents think that it means a lot, while the law’s supporters are being very cautious. And, in this one case, the enemies of health reform are right. This is a very big deal indeed.

Of course, you don’t find many Obamacare opponents admitting outright that 7.1 million and counting signups is a huge victory for reform. But their reaction to the results — It’s a fraud! They’re cooking the books! — tells the tale. Conservative thinking and Republican political strategy were based entirely on the assumption that it would always be October, that Obamacare’s rollout would be an unremitting tale of disaster. They have no idea what to do now that it’s turning into a success story.

So why are many reform supporters being diffident, telling us not to read too much into the figures? Well, at a technical level they’re right: The precise number of signups doesn’t matter much for the functioning of the law, and there may still be many problems despite the March surge. But I’d argue that they’re missing the forest for the trees....

Hey Paul Krugman - I can get 7 million people to buy ‘dog shit through the mail’ IF I can stick the IRS on them or fine them or BOTH if they don’t buy from me.

I might even be able to get half that number to subscribe to the New York Times under identical circumstances.

Gads you’re proud of nothing...

What’s more scary is reading the comments on that article over on the NYT website. I mean these people are truly kool-aid drinkers to think this fiasco is a success story.

Obamacare was ALWAYS going to be hailed as a success by Barack Hussein Obama since his goal is to kill private insurance companies and rape American citizens. If two people had signed up, he would have called it a success!

1/4 of one percent isn’t much? Barack Hussein Obama calls that success, sort of like when he shoots hoops.

What, you don't think the lefties were at their computers 24/7 in the days leading up to the deadline signing everyone up whose name was on a tombstone in their town?

How much has been spent getting these 7 million people to sign up. Divide that by the actual number of people who have paid a premium, or qualified for Medicare, and ask if they couldn’t have been insured a lot better for a lot less, and they still have crappy coverage.

Yeah, “stunning”. People shouldn’t believe everything they see in the Kenyan’s state controlled “media”. It’s called propaganda. You know. Lies.

Obamacare Site Going Down for Maintenance Ahead of Deadline

11/29/2013 10:27:48 PM · 47 of 68

Here’s post I made regarding the inevitable Pravda MSM propaganda which came later than I thought, but just as I thought:

Husker8877 to BlessedBeGod:

“Don’t you get it? It doesn’t matter if it works 10 times worse than it does now. It will be praised as the greatest comeback in American history by the fawning Obama/Clinton media. And most Americans will agree. Seems impossible, but I really think it’s so.

Wall-to-wall anecdotal stories of the unbelievable success by Obama will fill every mainstream media outlet in America. Triumphant and condescending speeches will be made by Dear Leader, as he is roundly adored.

You have to know that. For me, I just hope enough American sleepers wake up and realize that our country will slip away if these rampant, repulsive bunch of liberals aren’t tossed the hell out soon.”

According to the GOP leadership, ObamaCare will win us a majority in the Senate in 2014.

But, besides Ted Cruz and Bobby Jindal, what nationally known Republican is even talking about repealing ObamaCare?

Obama holds a nationally televised pep rally yesterday, and not one Republican leader even throws a counter punch at him on health care.

This is pitiful.

Does the GOP even have a coherent, publicized health care alternative to ObamaCare?

Our strategic plan for victory in 2014 is, “Do nothing, and hope that ObamaCare implodes before the election.”

By the way, is anyone watching the economy, which, allegedly, is our second trump card in this election?

Modest growth, and slow improvement in almost all the headline numbers.

The economic “backlash” in this election in favor of Republicans is getting smaller every month.

And what is the GOP strategic plan for the economy?

Raise the “Debt Ceiling” and repeal all the Budget Sequester cuts for two years!

Folks, we have ZERO chance of winning the Senate, and a very good chance of losing seats in the House.

What makes you think the Republicans disagree with the democrats on Obamacare? The establishment just wants to fix it,not repeal it,by November it will be Jeb Bush or mitt Romney telling you it is not that bad

"Obama holds a nationally televised pep rally and not one Republican leader even throws a counter punch at him on health care."

Then we have Princess Reince Priebus, alleged RNC chairman and Invisible Man.

Love him or hate him, at least ole Haley Barbour was on TV all the time, Sunday shows, or week-night shows, hauling the water for the elephant.

Like the legendary groundhog, Priebus pokes his head out of the ground a few times a year, sees his own shadow which absolutely terrifies the life out of him, then retreats down into his hole, not to be seen again for the longest time possible.
