Mike Huckabee, whose win in the Iowa caucuses in 2008 put him on the national political map, holds an early lead there if he were to run again in 2016, according to a new poll.

The WPA Research poll shows the former Arkansas governor on top of a field of potential candidates at 14 percent.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is in second place at 10 percent, while the rest are in single digits.

They picked about 10 non-declared, potential candidates and left out Palin.

Wonder what the results would be with her included?

Additionally, do these people not realize that Paul is a full-on amnesty supporter and unlikely to change?

Huckabee is a nice guy - and that is his problem.

Cue the stories about his canine-hanging son. That'll really capture the independent vote.

I will set my ballot on fire in the polling place before I vote for Huckabee. He’s almost as big a statist as Obama, and certainly just as big a statist as Bush 41 was.

Huck is a tool of the GOPe. His only job is to siphon off enough moral conservative votes to allow the establishment selected candidate to win by plurality. He has no expectations of winning. But, what is his pay-off?

Ron Paul did good with kids but they wouldn’t vote for him in the general. I think we will have some of that factor with Rand Paul too.
