AP Headline Falsely Claims 'U.S. Finally Regains The Jobs Lost in the Recession'
Newsbusters ^ | April 4, 2014 | Tom Blumer

This afternoon, in an unbylined item headlined "US BUSINESS HIRING FINALLY TOPS RECESSION LOSSES," the Associated Press showed that it deserves the nickname "Administration's Press."

The story embarrassingly described the job market's return to its previous January 2008 employment peak as a "pivotal moment." Get real. Given over six additional years of growth in the adult population, that's hardly the case.

To his credit, the AP's Christopher Rugaber, in a separate later submission, tamped down the enthusiasm, noting that "the economy is still millions of jobs short of where it should be by now." That's for sure. But whoever wrote the headline to Rugaber's story told an obvious untruth:

I haven’t looked at the exact numbers, but they could be exactly right in that the total (raw) number of employed could now be back to the level it was at in 2008. However, as noted, because of population growth, the economy is still millions of jobs short of where it needs to be, and indeed even with so many out of the workforce (and therefore not counted) the percentage of the still-available workforce that is employed is still lower than it has been in decades.

Donald Trump is correct, the real unemployment rate is at LEAST 21%.

We are living in an era of government/media propaganda that Stalin would have envied. Truth, reason, and honesty no longer matter.

Truth, reason, honor were killed to facilitate killing babies.
Teachers pretend to teach, students pretend to learn
Parents pretend to parent
We have pretend money
We no longer have free speech
We no longer have freedom of religion

This is exactly what happens with no truth, reason or honor

Amen. What you cited are the logical consequences of abandoning truth, reason, morality, and law. You cannot have the former without God - and we abandoned Him.

Watch this - 3 minutes:

Wasn't America created to be a nation of tolerance?

This theme was leaked before the job numbers came out. I heard some talking heads saying that President Obama only needs 120,000 more jobs to break even with 2008.

That means the Obama Administration put this idea out there so the media would have their headline for the jobs report.

But, while the media did play Obama mouthpiece, it is not having the desired effect as the stock market declined and most agree it was a bad jobs report.

Government reports say we are 600,000 jobs short in government growth. Say what.

We need to stop this kind of thinking

I read somewhere that if you count the hours lost due to full time jobs replaced by part time jobs, we have actually lost about 100,000 jobs over that time frame. I don’t recall where that was reported, so I’m hoping another Freeper can post the reference.

Truth is Obama is bringing America back to the economy of 1960. I know. I was there.

What does “employed” actually mean now? I believe that if someone was working forty or more hours a week in 2008 and earning forty dollars an hour but is now working ten hours a week at minimum wage he would be counted as employed now just as he was counted as employed in 2008.

I turned 16 in 1960. I would love to believe that when all is setted we will be as well off as we were in 1960.
