Don’t forget that Mussolini & then Hitler were admired by the western democracies early on in their regimes for their perceived personal strength & the ability to `get things done’.

It’s not as though in 1933 the world erupted in revulsion with “OMG! Nazis in power!! Civilized nations must come together at ONCE and drive them from power immediately!!”

Putin is a strongman & Obama is a weakman, got it. That doesn’t mean Russia is a pleasant place to live, far from it.

I'm going to speak based on common sense and logic, not data. Russians are feeling quite proud of their nation after the successful Olympics and the re-uniting of Crimea with Russia. Will that lead to a "baby bump" starting around December?

Yep. And then in a couple of years, demographics should crash due to a small baby cohort born in the ‘90s. By 2050, they should stabilize at 120 million people, still the most populous country in Europe.
