Debunking a Few Commonly Held Fracking Myths

Prior to each election cycle, one topic is sure to be raised in the debate for office seekers in every corner of the nation where energy exploration takes place. Where do you stand on fracking? Properly known as hydraulic fracturing, fracking is the liberal boogieman which is, according to environmental activists, responsible for everything from the rampant destruction of the wilderness to exploding sinks.

So popular is this allegedly common knowledge that The Daily Show’s Asif Mandvi did a “special report” on the subject this year. He highlighted the hazards posed to citizens residing near natural gas drilling rigs and lampooned industry experts who had the audacity to question the scientific accuracy of esteemed liberal studies on the subject such as the Matt Damon film, Promised Land.

Amazing how effectively the communists (MSM, entertainers, academia) manipulate the environmentalists to halt capitalism.

On the 10th of March we had a 6.8 earthquake

Just off the coast of Ferndale California. Ferndale is close to Petrolia. Petrolia was the site of the first oil well drilled in California. That was back in 1865. Hasn’t been a whole lot of drilling there since. I’m pretty sure they fracked that well causing this earthquake.

When I hear the BS about fracking causing people’s water to become flammable I like to tell them to do an internet search for towns named “Burning Springs”.

For those who want to see a video showing how horizontal drilling and fracking is done, Northern Gas and Oil has a great one. It’s 6 minutes.

It includes a visual piece on how fresh water aquifers are protected from contamination.

LOL! Probably just your typical BIG OIL lies to make folks feel better. Good video though.

I agree with the premise that the enviro-nuts rightly deserve sarcasm & critique for their attack on the technology that extracts more of the dreaded 'fossil fuels' from the earth.

However, equating that sarcasm with the earthquake activity is an egregious error, even if they use that as one point of their attack. Tread carefully; imho it's a trap.

Injecting water into the deep earth causes seismic activity. Period. To-date, all relatively minor and, imho, beneficial (releases ground stresses). You can verify that for yourself. It's a scientific fact. Furthermore, recall the latest 'doom & gloom' earthquake series near La Habra, CA; as I showed in one of those threads, there is a fracking site located right over a known fault...

But as yet no one has called on the LA County gubmint to explain why they permitted such activity over a known fault when SOP (and common sense) is to 'not' do so...the left is so ensconced in their delusion of 'government good for you' that they can't even attack it when it is directly responsible for placing an 'evil fracking site' right on top of the Puente Hills thrust fault.

THAT is ironic.
