WaPo's Kathleen Parker Suggests People with Southern Accents Not 'Smart' or 'Sophisticated'

After NBC's "Meet The Press" host David Gregory ran an anti-ObamaCare ad targeting Sen. Mark Pryor from Arkansas featuring a couple with a southern accents questioning the confusing nature of the Affordable Care Act, Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker objected to Americans for Prosperity using people with southern accents in political ads running in Arkansas:

"I think you could find someone who doesn't have a southern accent who is confused by this act," Parker said. "We always seem to find the character who seems a little countrified, who can't just fathom this. You know there there are plenty of smart sophisticated people equally hazy about what is really going on."

Baraq (and Hillary for that matter) are very “situational” with their speech patterns.

Lots of us don’t consider ‘Winter Haven, Florida’ to be part of the south.

YMMV.

So southerners who don’t speak with a southern accent like Sheila Jackson Lee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Alan Grayson are examples of artificial intelligence.

Sorry - Sheila Jackson Lee is a carpetbagging yankee from Queens. An excellent example of the abject stupidity of New Yorkers.

I heard an audio clip of her blathering on the radio Friday and she uttered some word that had a distinct NYC accent.

That did not sound like a Southern accent to me. It sounded more like a Midwestern accent.

Liberal Sunday morning talk shows love to put Republican white Southerns on - Meet the Press had one on this morning. He was there for his accent as much as what he had to say...

The same shows avoid all democrat black legislators...

Think about it. You'll see what biases and hatreds they push and what biases they cover and hide.

Does Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker ‘feel’ the same about Bill Clinton and his southern accent? What about ‘black’ accent? Then again maybe Kathleen Parker is just as shallow as she seems to be...

Are you saying that Mrs. Parker, hailing from Florida, is a Southerner?

Don't ask me. Ask her.

FWIW, Ms. Parker her ownself considers herself a Southerner.

So that’s why Obamacare is so confusing. It’s because of Obama’s phony southern accent whenever he is talking to black audiences.

She also holds a Master's degree in the subject from Florida State.

Ah, so she couldn't get into college. That explains a lot.

My cousin once insulted pretty much all of the South as being a bunch of ignorant rednecks. He was a pretty intelligent guy had a degree from U.M. in eng. and has done a lot of things with his life. When he insulted me and the South in general I reminded him that he was the offspring of a Alabama briar hopper and an Eastern KY hillbilly. I asked him if he figured his IQ had jumped 50 points when he crossed the Ohio River heading north? He had no response to that.

But from Kathleen Parker's biography...

Parker grew up in Winter Haven, Florida, graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1969, and attended Converse College before transferring to Florida State University where she majored in Spanish Literature. She also holds a Master's degree in the subject from Florida State.

She is married to an attorney, has three sons, and currently resides in Camden, South Carolina.[6]

Cool - maybe Parker resents southerners being unfairly stereotyped. That would be a pleasant surprise... and worth an apology for not getting what she was really saying...

The only way I’d say she’s right is if she’s talking about Haley “Twangy-tone” Barbour. He’s a freakin’ RINO meat head.
