NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Ted Kennedy Jr. is planning to run for the state Senate in Connecticut.

Two people briefed on the decision say the son of the late U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts will announce Tuesday that he intends to seek the Democratic nomination for the state's 12th District. They spoke on condition of anonymity because Kennedy wants to make the announcement.

Kennedy is a 52-year-old health care lawyer who lives in Branford, a coastal town outside New Haven, and has been mentioned as a possible political candidate for years. He had said last month he was considering running for the seat.

Is this the Ambien addict or is that some other Kennedy?

The Fitzgerald side of the family thought the Kennedy side of the family was “low class”.

But Rose married Joe Senior anyway. And the attempt at up-breeding failed.

Mama tried.

Oh, great. Another Northeast state infested by the politics of America’s 20th Century Royal Family.

A state senate seat is also usually beneath any Kennedy—let alone a 52-year-old Kennedy.

The Ambien addict is Ted’s other son Patrick aka Patches who was born in 1967 and won several terms as one of RI’s two Congressmen before finally deciding not to run any more.
The nickname, from Boston talk host Howie Carr, was based on the old Clarence Carter song Patches, about a dying father
talking to his son.

My own parody lyrics:
My father was a drunk old man, I could see him with the Chivas in his hand
He put a blonde in the pond, didn’t think he did anything wrong
Never did any time in jail, got re-elected without fail

Oh life’s not easy for a Kennedy
The pills and the booze and the broads, you see
One day Daddy took me to his dying bed, poured himself a Chivas and with tears he said
He said Patches I’m depending on you son to pull the
family through, my son it’s all left up to you

You are right. Also, it was a PR fantasy sold to the public. The Kennedys are no more royalty than me.
