McConnell and his challenger Bevin attack each other on immigration reform
The Daily Caller ^ | Neil Munro

Matt Bevin, Sen. Mitch McConnell’s primary challenger, told a group of Kentucky voters that American workers are less productive than immigrants.

“For those who think that all these fifteen to twenty million [illegal immigrant] people are here just to take advantage of us and ride the system, you’re wrong,” he said at a diner in Jessamine, Kentucky, in March.

“Most of them are not… but I’ll tell you what, there are more people like that even proportionally that were born here in this country,” he added.

Well, I read the article and this doesn’t sound very good to me. It certainly doesn’t show Bevins has thought this thing out very well and appears to make him look less than stellar. McConnell still needs to go but this isn’t encouraging.

The article seemed designed to make Bevin look as bad as possible by twisting what he was saying. I don’t know anyone that doubts the hard work that many illegal display, nor the laziness of many Americans. That doesn’t change Mitch’s repeated pro amnesty support. Bevin may have done something to draw the turtle/weasel out of his shell.

Ditch Mitch!

This is Todd Akin-level weapons-grade stupidity.

I don't know what it is about Republicans and illegal immigration. It makes even conservative stalwarts like Cruz moderate. Cruz doesn't support amnesty, but he supports more H1B visas, guest worker programs and all the other sidebar crap that still undermines the system.

Bevin’s stance on immigration is disturbing.

What the hell is wrong with these people? Every single Hispanic immigrant I see at Walmart is paying with an EBT card. EVERY SINGLE ONE. 100%. I don’t doubt that many are hard workers, and I also don’t doubt that their crime rate is through the roof, and that they are a huge strain on the system; a system that is failing. Republicans are terrified of being called racist. Until they no longer care about that charge, they are hopeless.

I am glad to see McConnel starting to mix it up

He looks pathetic, and he must be running scared

“Republicans are terrified of being called racist.”

To overcome their fecklessness maybe they ought to be threatened to pay the taxes that they are all trying to avoid.

I do not doubt that when employers pay decent wages, provide good work conditions, and provide opportunities to get ahead, US workers will be what they historically have been....the hardest working, most innovative, most successful population the world has ever seen.

Bevin sounded good at the beginning, but there were always questions. One is that he had never run for office before, and US Senate is not starting at the bottom. Another is that his background is as a businessman, so we couldn't be sure he wouldn't fall in line with the Chamber of Commerce globalist rhetoric about "those hard working foreigners". He should be praising the American worker if he wants the constitutional conservative vote.

Another disappointment.
