Senate Passes Unemployment Benefits Extension
Roll Call ^ | April 7, 2014 | By Humberto Sanchez

The Senate approved a bipartisan unemployment benefits extension Monday, with six Republicans joining Senate Democrats to clear the measure.

The measure passed 59 to 38 with all Democrats in attendance voting for the bill. The five Republicans who helped negotiate the measure joined the Democrats voting in favor of the bill as well as by Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid teed up the vote with another screed against the billionaire Koch brothers.

Reid on Monday tied his war against the Kochs to the fight to restore emergency unemployment insurance benefits that have been cut off since December.

“Americans need a fair shot at getting back on their feet and finding work, but Koch groups are opposing benefits for the unemployed,” Reid said, teeing off on Charles Koch’s letter to the Wall Street Journal saying that “dignity” was under attack by the government.

“What about the dignity of a single mother from Las Vegas, Christina and her son, and see what dignity there is stuck living in her grandmother’s living room because she and her son were evicted when Christina’s benefits were cut off?” Reid fumed.

“Perhaps Charles and David Koch should spend their night sharing one air mattress like Christina and her son and see what dignity there is in living like that. The Koch brothers want Americans to be dignified as they lose their homes, cars and their security.”

They are, and the Koch’s are clearly better on just about every issue than the Bushes, who need to just go away. But that single issue will weigh heavily in my decision, and Scott and Marco would no longer be at the front of the line, unless every other candidate is a pro-Am as well.

Thanks, I didn’t know that the Koch brothers supported amnesty.

Wow! Based on a comment from someone you don't even know, you accept that the Koch brothers support amnesty?

Now, maybe, they do -- I have no idea. But do you always accept what you read on the Internet so uncritically? I have some paper gold certificates I'd like to sell you. They're going to skyrocket shortly.

Christine and her son are “made up” people. The democrats get away with making stuff up. Why doesn’t Harry give her some of his ill gained money.

Someone should ask Harry-ass Reid how much money he has received from the Koch organization. Ask him how much money the Koch brothers have donated to humanitarian causes. Then, ask him how much he has contributed.

He should also be asked how much he has accepted from George Soros, a man who is wanted in his home country. A man who has tried for years to de-stabilize the US economy. There are a lot of questions I would like to ask Harry.
