The 23-cent gender pay gap is simply the difference between the average earnings of all men and women working full-time. It does not account for differences in occupations, positions, education, job tenure, or hours worked per week. When all these relevant factors are taken into consideration, the wage gap narrows to about five cents.

Actually, that five cents per hour difference is more than made up in other factors such as:

• Women being more willing to exchange lower wages for flexible working hours,
  
• shorter commutes.
  
• more health care use.
  
• more use of time off, sick leave, etc.

  Part of the reason for this is that a lot of women are married and value their families more than their work life. For that matter, so do many men, but they don't have the flexibility of making these choices.

  These are the cold, hard facts much to the chagrin of the leftards who find discrimination under every bush.
