The New Inquisition

What if you believed that the planet might not have warmed up the last two decades, even though carbon emissions reached all-time highs?

Or, if the earth did heat up, you thought that it was not caused by human activity?

Or, if global warming were the fault of mankind, you trusted that the slight increases would not make all that much difference?

The Los Angeles Times would not print your letter to the editor to that effect.

The CEO of Apple Inc. might advise that you should "get out of this stock."

Or maybe if you were a skeptical climatologist, you would cease all research and concede that man-caused global warming needed no further scientific cross-examination -- as columnist Bill McKibben recently advocated.

If you were a drought-stricken California farmer and worried about diversions of irrigation water to support fish populations, you would be told by the president of the United States that the real problem is not a failure to build reservoirs and canals, but is due entirely to global warming, which is a "fact" and "settled science."

I suppose this lack of allegiance to the worship of Gaia makes me one of the despised underclass, to be driven out beyond the gates of “safe” conformity, left to wander the wilderness.

This conformity of righteous hateful anger, has managed to make the conservatives, and particularly T.E.A. party individuals, the equivalent of the standing of the entire Jewish population of Germany under the Third Reich. The anger and irrational loathing of all things Republican and traditional is reminiscent of the sheer spiteful hatred that was expressed by the KKK toward the Americans of African descent (and Jewish and Catholic Americans, as well).

In this bizarre world that exists today, the Nationalist Socialist Workingmen’s Party has revived in full force, this time with an American accent, and its intellectual sibling has appeared in the Russian Federation. It is a dreadful thing to see two such jealous ideologies square off against each other.

Especially when the Russian version is so much better at the whole process of bluff and intimidation than the version now in control of the territory once known as “the United States of America”.

The doctrine of man-caused global warming is closer in similarity to geocentrism in the dark ages. Disagreement meant you’re a heretic, to be silenced. Although then it was a case of science vs. established religion, today it is science vs. the pseudo-science of liberalism.

To liberals, science equates to forced consensus, which is actually closer to religion than actual science. Science thrives on skepticism, and never in the spirit of science do you stop thinking and just believe without question. So liberalism is basically a return to dark age thinking, before the scientific method was even developed.

If you oppose the global warming theory you can go somewhere else with your stock. The CEO of Apple is really really opposed to opponents of global warming. Is he opposed to slave labor? His workers in China work in nearly slave labor conditions and China has one of the largest carbon footprints in the world. If he is really sincere he would pull out of China.

...it’s actually still science vs. established (pagan) religion.

Tell a liberal that gun control is a ‘settled argument’ and watch their blood pressure spray out their ears. It works.

In the meantime, every serious, thinking person knows that ‘global warming’ doesn’t exist, much less as ‘settled science’. Their argument can be dismissed with the contempt it so richly deserves.

Humanism was once declared a religion by Congress, and this is sort of a Gaia worship version of Humanism, with the same general tenants but this one has a devil: the evil oil companies.
