Resolution to Hold Lois Lerner in Contempt of Congress

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee convened for a business meeting to consider a resolution holding Lois G. Lerner, former IRS Director of Exempt Organizations, in contempt of Congress for refusing to answer questions before Congress on May 22, 2013 and March 5, 2014, at a hearing entitled, “Targeting Americans for their Political Beliefs.”

This is but one tactic in an overall strategy. The Ways and Means Committee referral is another such tactic. We may be witnessing the beginning of a full court press by the various House Committees.

Congress, or either House thereof, may apply directly to a court to convene a grand jury and appoint a special prosecutor if it is clearly shown (can be) that Prosecutor has a conflict of interest, is biased or is failing to perform his function. Must be beyond an abuse of discretion, which it is.

They need to get the freaking evidence that ought to be found if this is as pervasive as it appears it was. Going after Lerner's 5A rights is a very questionable route here because, unlike a court trial where she has a choice to testify, here, like with a grand jury, she was forced to testify and therefore may defend herself while "selectively invoking" (a settled doctrine according to legal experts) her 5A rights. This is the GOP possibly snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory - again.

Instead, it would be nice if Congress could find their own investigators and prosecute around the corrupt DOJ.

A true AG would have slapped the IRS 3 years ago. Must be covering for the hero of Benghazi.

The only way to deal with this has to be outside Holder’s control.

Otherwise, we’ll get 3 years of “investigation still underway.”

If it passes, and she is arrested, I do hope her life insurance is paid up.

I don't mean to be ironic in more ways than one dang it just worked out like this but Mathew 21 12 seems fitting...

And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves

Yep. She'll be Jim McDougaled.

her Pal Senator Cummings.....is about tom take some heat as well....

t appears that Elijah Cummings, the committee’s ranking Democrat and therefore the Congressman to whom these staffers reported, may have lied during a committee hearing when he denied that his staffers had put the IRS on the trail of True the Vote.

I’ll bet if it gets reported by the MSM at all it will be as a “Republican temper tantrum in their on-going war on women”.

Elijah Cummings will be portrayed as the noble knight defending the fair maiden Lois Lerner.

I may be wrong, but having resigned does not immunize her from the Contempt of Congress charge and subsequent punishment.
