There is nothing wrong with the goal, but to deny that many of the candidates the Tea Party have put forth have been jokes is living in denial.
Not a fan of this guy, but he does offer a valid point.
You don’t send a neophyte with a colorful path and no experience up for a major election, unless of course you are a Democrat and the press are willing to be your propaganda arm.
The reality is, if you want to be elected as a small government advocate, other than in some local elections in safe republican districts you have to be able to walk into the lions den every day, because you will be attacked every single moment of every single day by the left and their propaganda arm.
If you just pick some guy or girl because they are a small government advocate, but have no experience dealing with the realities of the media and the left, they will be spun as irrelevant by late September.
Sadly the tea party has put its weight behind some legitimate crackpots that never should have seen the light of day. You are going to be attacked by the left, you are going to be undermined by the R establishment, so you can’t have folks who can’t pass basic vetting out there.

I have my doubts that Terry Bowman can win the seat being vacated by John Dingell but maybe running in a near no chance race is good practice for a first timer. Plus it costs the democrats money to defend the seat.
On the other hand, Bowman is an unusual candidate in the fact that he’s a union conservative who has been a crusader for right to work in Michigan. Basically its a race between Dingell’s wife who is an auto company executive and a blue collar factory worker.
It should be an interesting race with nothing for us to lose.
