#6 – Janis Joplin: “Me and Bobby McGee”

Janis died in 1970 from a heroin overdose, which surprised me. I knew she was a juicer, but not that she had gotten into hard drugs. This song was written by Kris Kristofferson, and it contains one of the most memorable and derogatory lines about freedom I’ve ever heard.

In 1991 when my power trio, THOR disbanded, Chris (Chanticleer) Kemp convinced me to abandon my Drumbo Thunder persona, and as Reynard (the Fox) we continued to fulfill our bookings as a duo. No one thought we could pull it off, but billed as "the biggest little, best known, unknown band in the world" we played our original music and copious covers from every genre. Performing festivals with my brother Chris was one of the greatest joys in my long career as a musician.
