First of all, before we get into money talk, color me flabbergasted by the fact that there’s a park where apparently you can find free gems, take them home at your leisure and then sell them. Crater of Diamonds State Park exists, and it’s made one 14-year-old girl way richer than most kids her age.

The Pink Panther diamond it ain’t.

I always get amused at the priceless look on Inspector Clouseau’s face in the court in the next to penultimate scene in “The Pink Panther” how he has to explain to his surprise - that he is the Pink Panther thief!

The girl is well positioned to enjoy the proceeds of her find. 20K is nothing to sneeze at.

If it was an I1 12 or I3 diamond it would make sense. Also the 3.85 is probably the raw size of the diamond, and yellow is not a desirable color, even if the jeweler calls it a champagne diamond.

Cool! When she gets to college she just might be able to pay for her books for one semester.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the value of diamonds, 20K for almost 4 carats worth seemed low to me. Just say’n ;-)

Well, they need to give it a fancy name, like the Aussie diamonds called “Pink Ice”. How about “Yellow Snow”?

Yellow is not a desirable color and there’s a huge difference between 4 carats and almost 4 carats.

http://www.craterofdiamondsstatepark.com

I found a pink diamond there.

They don’t look anything like diamonds in a ring since these are natural (uncut).

Canary Yellow is quite desirable

At least it sure was in my mining days in BZ and SL 25-30 years ago

Some of the most pricey parcels I ever sold were pink and yellow rough...

Nice size and planes

There are a bunch of gem finding sites in the US. You pay a fee and you get a chance to hunt for treasure. it is a lot of hard work and a lot of work, Good for this young lady
