One Republican candidate for governor is a former U.S. treasury official, a moderate who promises to create jobs and fix Californias public school system. Another is a firebrand a conservative California assemblyman and former anti-immigrant Minuteman who was convicted of a misdemeanor in 2012 for having a loaded gun in his carry-on luggage at the Ontario airport.
Although some California Republican leaders had seen the moderate, Neel Kashkari, as the GOPs candidate of the future in a deep blue state, Tea Party favorite Tim Donnelly is pummeling him, according to a surprising new Field Poll.

In other words, the candidate who scores a scant 3% support has a greater "opportunity to succeed in the long run". Is that what this "intellectual authority" is trying to say?
I grew up in Texas. I can’t wait to get back. My husband will miss California’s natural beauty, but he can always go on vacation when he misses it.
Kashkari voted for Obama in 2008.
‘Nuff said.
Go Tim Go.

acquaintances are suffering...”

You are truly blessed.
Medved’s a liberal turned capital R Republican. Its obvious conservatives embarrass him.
What name did she go by?
Senator to be... or not.
I think CA voters are sick and tired ofliberals, I think they are seeing states like Texas eating their lunch. The Golden State is now the Fool’s Gold State.
That’s the thing though. I hope Perry could shut up and just say “Texas sucks and we’re all racist rednecks” so the libs wouldn’t go there. That’s my plan too eventually. At least pass a law that only conservatives and non-Dumocraps can become residents on TX.
I guess he doesn't remember Arnold Whatshisname.
Liberal California Republicans are little more than roadkill. It is a truism that people rarely vote for the candidate of one party who runs on the platform of the other party.
That is, Republicans don’t vote for Republicans who support Democrat ideas, and vice versa. But liberal California Republicans seem to be just as incapable of pattern recognition as are Democrats.
When they act and vote conservative, they provide a *contrast* to liberal Republicans and radical Democrats. And people like a choice in who they vote for. They like contrast. And they will vote for contrast.
When liberal California Republicans get trounced in the polls, their inclination is exactly wrong. They say, “Oh no! We must become *more* liberal!” And time and time again it does not work.
They are stuck on stupid.
Except the current left wing Democrat Governor, Jerry Brown has a 59% positive job approval rating at the moment.
Hey, Nero Germanicus- Who reported Moonbeam’s favorable job approval rating? Do ya know, Nero?
We truly are. I give thanks to our good Lord every single day by trying to lead a good life. On occasion I succeed.
Best of everything to you.
One of my very oldest friends lives in Robertson county, Texas, and I visit her three or four times a year. I'm seeing her next month.
The only bad thing there is the FIRE ANTS. Nasty little buggers, from South America, via Florida. HARD to kill. They even even kill livestock.
Yes, they will.
I know the pain of husband-layoff. It happened to my husband in hiring: no one wanted to hire a middle-aged, white male, especially an over-qualified one. He was out of work for months. Terrible!
Again, best of everything and watch out for those fire ants.
I would be willing to bet you have one of those really hard jobs; like creative consultant or contract administrator that require a high level of key board skills and the ability to use 30 dollar words where a simple yes or no would do.
Wrong again. I was a teacher.
I learned the key board because my mother has been a business teacher.
You sound like an over educated Santa Monica snob to me.
Just in case it never enters into your closed little world, the people who provide the goods and services you would find life very difficult without, are having a hard time of it out there.
If your brains were as big as the chip on your shoulder, you might have a chance.
Speaking of "closed little worlds" yours in a HUMdinger.
My husband and I also lived in Saudi Arabia for five years because of his engineering skills. He was SO smart, 10 times smarter than me. From over there we traveled the world. I am home now and a widow.
Seek the Lord to find your own peace. There is only peace through Him.

I am also a native Californian, been here for the last 65 years and I worked with those people every day. I heard about and had to work with the regulations they had to labor under; the taxes from workers comp to business licensing, hireing regulations to ridiculous law suits, permitting process's to corrupt officials. For the last 30 years at least, the state of California has made working people's lives as miserable as possible short of driving them all out. The ones who could leave have left and taken an awful lot of jobs and skills with them. California has become a well fare joke in all the more normal states. We never have enough money to fix the pot holes in the roads, but we always have the money for a clean needle program for drug addicts and condoms for K-12 kids? We always have money in the budget for free breakfast, lunch and supper for the illegal aliens in our taxpayer funded schools but not enough to repair and maintain bridges and infrastructure? We are currently paying some of the highest taxes in the world, so where is the money going? Whats wrong with the current government in Sacramento that they could take what used to be a state with an economy larger than a lot of entire countries and turn it into a net debtor third world sh#thole? When you elect idiot socialists and Stalinists and you have a newer population that is only interested in free stuff this is what you get.
Get a life and try not to hate others for having one.
Anyone who says this is a liar, fraud or ignoramus. Government schools can not be "fixed", as socialism is unfixable. How is he going to create jobs in the face of the overwhelmingly Democrat/Commie legislature?
What gets me is that both the rich and the poor are squeezing out the middle class. The poor want the freebies, and the rich are into all the social stuff like gay rights, antiwar, global warming.
My poor kids have to watch what they say about Christianity at their Chrstian school. It would be so much worse in public school. My son is loving going to college in Texas and my daughters can’t wait to leave California.
