Waiting to hear this on the main stream media: three, two one.....crickets.
Three weeks before Election Day, Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., center, arrives for the dedication of a wind farm in Henderson, Nev., on Oct. 12, 2010. With him are, second from left, Kai Huang, deputy mayor of Shenyang, China; Jinxiang Lu, second from right, chairman and CEO of A-Power Energy Generation Systems, a Chinese company, and Tom Conway, right, international vice president of the United Steelworkers union. Reids support, and the plan to create jobs in Nevada, helped blunt congressional criticism that stimulus money was going to the Chinese company. (MSNBC)
I turned on Fox this morning and waited to hear Reid's name. Never happened.
The media doesn't have anything to do with it, it is the judge.
Solar farms, oil wells, communication towers, etc are irrelevant because these are multiple use lands. There are no set-asides and this was argued out in the 19th century by John Muir versus Gilbert Pinchot Also grazing leases are not granted in perpetuity.
Grazing rights are for only grazing rights, nothing else. And occasionally disputes arise over recreational rights.
So the grazing rights holder that builds/operates a Dude Ranch on the lease will likely be in big trouble. OTOH, it is near impossible to stop a grazing rights holder from charging someone a fee to hunt on the lease. OTOH, the lease holder who tries to limit access to the multiple use lands by hunters will likely end up in court. And sometimes the disputes arise merely for traveling over the lease.
