Slavyansk (Ukraine) (AFP) - An operation by Ukrainian forces to reassert control over its eastern regions floundered Wednesday in the face of pro-Russian resistance, a day ahead of international talks on the escalating crisis.
A concerned NATO said it planned to deploy more forces in eastern Europe and called for Russia to stop "destabilising" the former Soviet satellite, which has been in deep turmoil since the ouster of the pro-Kremlin leadership in February.

It’s a shambles because they appointed an Interior Minister who has no military or police experience. It appears that no one in charge has any experience leading large bodies of men in the security apparatus. You’d think they would have appointed NCO’s or officers with experience from the Afghan War, but these people are putting a bunch of academics and pols in cabinet positions. Without a war cabinet, they will be steamrolled by the Russians.
Please remember, Ukraine military was flying Russian flag at the time.
As at 6.30 pm according to the Information of resistance “The situation at the airport of Kramatorsk.
Airfield in Kramatorsk blocked 50-60 separatists. They broke the fence, but so far attempts to penetrate the airfield did not take.
The separatists have constantly provoke Ukrainian troops. Soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces took up positions. There is a possibility that after dark the extremists will attempt to capture.
Over Kramatorskom constantly patrolling aircraft and helicopters of the Ukrainian armed forces.
“they appointed an Interior Minister who has no military or police experience.”
Good analysis.
I hadn’t heard that.
That's because no one with military or police experience would be loyal to the Soros funded Globalist Bankster junta in Kiev. Same reason Obama is purging our top military commanders.
The Ukrainian regime has no legitimacy. But Kiev and its Western backers will continue to ignore the obvious and keep on blaming Russia.
Its telling the Ukrainian army can’t or won’t open fire on its own people.

It is also telling that they are not even being fed by the fractured mob pretending to be a “government” in Kiev.
Lunch? Who says we're eating Obama's lunch?

Or maybe Ukrainian soldiers just don’t want to kill protesters against an unelected coup government that they themselves may be skeptical of or opposed to.
How old would Afghan veterans be now? Are you aware than veterans of that war living in Ukraine are likely to be among the most pro-Moscow segments of the Ukrainian population, regardless of their ethnic identity?
The US wants to draw Ukraine into the Western ppower structures. It lacks the means and the resources to achieve the objective.
Indeed the Maidan regime increasingly looks more like a liability than an asset for the West. Russia will regain influence there. That is only a matter of time.
Can somebody tell me why, if the Russian speaking regions really don’t want to be a part of the Ukraine, we should force them to stay? Hold a referendum and let THEM decide, not Putin, the EU, or the Obama regime. More self-determination is really not a bad thing. If they vote to leave, the rest of the Ukrainians would be freed of a minority that is nostalgic for Lenin.
Since the Afghan war ended in 1989, they’re probably retired.
50-year-olds aren't too old to lead and organize troops. It's not vim and vigor that they need - it's the nuts-and-bolts knowledge of how to organize and conduct military operations.
Plenty of military men flocked to the Red Army and the Wehrmacht.
"Please remember, Ukraine military was flying Russian flag at the time."
And how many times were they walking around with no insignia or identification whatsoever?
If they're playing games there's no way to be sure they haven't been playing other games in the past.
I now wonder how many of the nasty people who were identified as Russian operatives were just Ukrainians playing "dress up" for the media. Hell, the whole country speaks Russian anyway so it's all noise and none of it can be trusted.
I understand cynicism. But, the stakes are way to high, and too many have died. Plus, I have correspondence & photos if you have sincere doubts. Putin isn’t playing games.
