SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. - Outdoor retail giant Bass Pro Shops is setting up shop in Spartanburg County.

The announcement was made Wednesday at a news conference.

The company will be building the 120,000 square foot store near the BMW facility at the intersection of Highway 101 and Interstate 85.

It is planned to be the anchor for developments including other retail stores, hotels and restaurants.

The store, the company's third in South Carolina, is set to open in 2016.

“This store will be a tribute to the great sporting tradition and heritage of the region and a celebration of the sporting men and women of South Carolina,” said Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; US: South Carolina
KEYWORDS:
Gov. Haley is very pro-business and has worked hard to attract big businesses to our area. The inland port will bring a lot of business. We have BMW and related businesses. North Charleston has Boeing, of course. It is an exciting time to live in the Upstate.

Greenville/Spartanburg is probably doing much better than much of the country economically.

We bought a new home in Taylors SC this week and are fleeing California. We will be in our new home May 1st. Houses are really moving in Greenville area. Gov. Haley has done an excellent job in attracting business as opposed to Gov. Brown in CA who continues to slap businesses with more and more taxes and regulations.

GSP is not a place any Yankee would enjoy. Grits, sweet tea, “Sir” and “Ma’am” and “Y’all,” no unions, rednecks and goobers. Strangers might just hug you and friends might just KISS you. Everyone is armed and they all vote Republican.

Trust me, if you’re a Yankee or a Californian you will be very unhappy in GSP. Please stay away.

We looked a lot in Greer-some very nice homes. This Taylors thing kind of fell into our lap( custom home that someone wanted built, then it fell out of escrow), so we grabbed it. SO happy to getting out of CA and all its’ lunacy.

Some of us in California are able to get out, and we are smart enough to know where the best place to live is. We won’t tell anyone else though.

I love Bass Pro Shop. The women's clothes are crappy but i buy the men's t-shirts in S/M and they are great quality.

Lot's of interesting stuff to look at there, while your husband is buying game cameras etc. :)

No bagels, boardwalk, or midnight basketball. Cats and dogs living together. Utter chaos!
