Sounds like a CYA belated arrest to defend against any civil lawsuit. Now the case and complications can be held over the defendant to try and wait him out or force a settlement.

Otherwise known as “extortion.” The officer as well as the prosecutors should be jailed.

You may be on to something here. Any, and I mean any interpretation or lack thereof by the LEO that the person is resisting, is taken down and charged. This then puts the person in the position to then fight it, which can take a long time.

They will use the criminal court system and the prosecuting attorneys will take a dual role not only as prosecutors but also act as defense attorneys to create the standard Good faith, probable cause, honest mistake, plausible deniability defense for the civil suite.

Take it to a jury and expose the cop for the punk he is and the prosecutor for their own stupidity. I have sat on several juries over the years for everything from car wrecks, to assaults and murder, this guy would walk in about 5 mins. or less deliberations.
