Net oil imports to the United States could plummet to zero by 2037 because of booming production in South Texas’ Eagle Ford Shale and North Dakota’s Bakken Shale, a branch of the Energy Department projected in a new report.

Yeah, but when Eagle Ford and Bakken are played out, THEN we’ll run out of oil!

President Opie will not be pleased.

It is proving more difficult for him to destroy America than THE PLAN forecasted.

Obama might decide to issue an executive order proclaiming the Bakken Field a national monument...

Well, there is Turtle River state park, near Grand Forks. I know it is not close to Bakken, but the Feds might try to shut Bakken down anyway, to protect the little turtles, like they said they were protecting the big turtles in Nevada. What a bunch of morons.

Nobody talks about Saudia Arabia running out of oil because nobody wants to think about it. Certainly not the Europeans, the Indians, the Chinese and the Japanese. However, do you remember the economic crisis of 2008? It was triggered by a huge spike in oil prices, and that shock burst the real estate bubble and led to the crash.

George W. Bush tried to forestall the crash by going to Saudi Arabia and asking them to open up the spigots. Reagan made the same request to help bring down the USSR by depriving them of foreign exchange. The Saudis agreed to do it for Reagan but this time the Saudis refused. But when I was reading the news articles about the Saudi refusal in 2008, I got the distinct impression the decision wasn’t that they didn’t want to. It was because they couldn’t.

That’s funny. The USGS said that the Bakken in North Dakota and Montana will probably yield about 3.65 billion barrels (enough for the U.S. for a little over 190 days). We use about 19 million barrels per day.

The hoax is at least 6 years old, and financial publications were the first guilty parties in spreading it. Oil is going up. Summer will be slow for folks on government incomes wishing for increased debt/revenues from tourism. Deal with it. It’s shale. Shale plays don’t last as long before becoming unprofitable. We’re blessed to have shale oil at all during a time when hundreds of millions of new drivers will need fuel in foreign manufacturing countries.

Get the NIMBYs out of the way to make haste with the Keystone XL pipeline. That would help.
