Air Force Captain Nicolas Aquino was tackled and handcuffed in his own home after police received a call from a neighbor of a suspected burglary. Aquino told the officer that he was the homeowner and even showed identification when the officer first approached him; the policeman finally left after Aquino showed him bills with his name and address.
However, that wasn’t the end of it. Months later, Aquino learned that the police station had issued a warrant for him, claiming that he resisted arrest and obstructed an officer.
Aquino, a model airman who has been featured in Air Force promotional material, maintains that he committed no crime, but the District Attorney has refused to drop the charges. Now, his education and career are in jeopardy as he fights against the arrest.

Also, since I got the impression that the captain's and sheriff's testimonies didn't exactly agree, this incident is a good argument, imo, for the use of security cameras of the following thread.

I'd guess the DA is being controlled or manipulated by SOMEONE.
If that's not the case then our system is so far out of whack there may be no hope of restoring a level playing field.

I just spoke with Nicholas. This ordeal has been a major challenge for him. He is fighting back. They picked the wrong man to oppress...he has faith. He needs moral support... The details are worse than reputed in this piece.
Please pray justice prevails and our Lord grant him wisdom and patience.

I say, let the cops feel like they won as long as he can get on with his life. I have seen this sort of thing play out before. It isn't very satisfying, except that the problem has gone away. And THAT may be the best he can hope for here.
