This W&L grad always liked Lee-Jackson Day. There was a nice parade. Everyone loves a parade.

It does make me wonder, though, what these people thought they were getting into when they signed up to attend W&L. Did they not visit the campus? Lee (and Traveller) is buried on campus, for goodness sakes. The “Committee” is all Yankees, no doubt.

I doubt they’ll get a lot of traction. Lee was very, very good to the school, and, particularly the undergraduate campus, is pretty conservative.

Both grew up in Virginia and understand the culture but also know that history needs to be presented in its context.

From the article: "Both (2 members of the "Committee") grew up in Virginia and understand the culture but also know that history needs to be presented in its context."

This Yank now a VA resident who loves the history of this state demands an apology.

At my alma mater next door at VMI, we celebrated our Civil War history. Although most of the black cadets chose to opt out of marching in the annual New Market Day parade when the corps of cadets was called into battle on May 15th, 1864.
