Harry Reid: In bed with the mining industry 2009

...Specifically, Harry Reid has presided over one of the biggest corporate welfare heists in this country's history -- it turns out that the mining industry has stolen $400+ billion of taxpayer dollars without ever having to pay for restoring federal lands that they had gutted after they were done mining the lands.

And in a blatant conflict of interest, it turns out that Harry Reid owns several such defunct mining companies and his sons have financial interests in several others. In other words, Harry Reid is not working for the common good. He is in it for the benefit of himself. Coal, oil, and gas companies, as the article notes, have to kick back anywhere from 8 to 17% of their revenues back to the government annually. But thanks to Harry Reid and his cronies, the mining industry doesn't have to kick back any.

They also need to be using or have available sat phones and shortwave because cell towers will be turned off.

interesting, from 1st linked article (interest in Bundy land ...mining deposit related?)

...But Reid's ties to mining run deeper than his sentimental connection to his rough-and-tumble origins. His sons Rory and Leif work for law firms that represent mining companies. Since 1999, his son-in-law, Steven Barringer, has earned as much as $3.7 million lobbying for mining interests including Barrick Gold, though he does not lobby Reid directly.

Reid's natural resources staffer, Neil Kornze, is the son of a geologist who discovered Barrick's Betze deposit outside Elko. Since 1994, mining interests have donated more than $269,000 to Reid, including at least $82,000 from Barrick and its employees

When I was told that Reid with all his bravado and toughness never served a day of his life in any life on the line military branch I put him in the file as a disgusting person for such government status. It must have been all those south of the border voters along with big money gambling interests that gave Reid his feeling of worthiness. Of course I admit the root source of such power is a citizenry that places high value on the glitz of Hollywood life styles.

It's on us...

With the corruption in Holder's AG office there is no chance of getting Reid and his perps on RICO charges, let alone anything else...

It's up to We the People. Interesting times ahead.

The Mesquite Desert Valley Times has gone online and has the latest on the BLM abuse.

Rather long, so just excerpting the first four paragraphs.

Bunkerville rancher Cliven Bundy is accusing the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and a number of “contract cowboys” working for the agency, of killing and partially burying an unknown number of cattle in a remote “mass grave” on Gold Butte.

Bundy said Wednesday his sons and other family members found the dead cattle after the men began “getting back to ranching” since an explosive confrontation with BLM officials last Saturday.

Ryan Bundy, oldest of Cliven’s 14 children, said the “grave” was found while he was working to round up and bring cattle off the Gold Butte area into the Bundy ranch to be branded.

“They used a backhoe to dig a pit about 50-feet long, 18-feet wide and 10-feet deep that was backfilled with dirt and dead cattle for nearly 20 feet,” Ryan said. “There’s no way to tell how many animals were buried in it.”
