Joey Giardello, a former middleweight boxing champion who won a decision over Rubin Carter in 1964 and then sued over how the fight was depicted in the 1999 film "The Hurricane," has died. He was 78.

Giardello died Thursday of congestive heart failure at a nursing home in Cherry Hill, N.J., the International Boxing Hall of Fame announced.

Giardello filed a federal lawsuit claiming defamation and eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed sum. The DVD version of the film included commentary by the director noting that liberties were taken in the fight scenes.

Liberties were taken in crime scenes and the courtroom scenes as well. Try this site: http://www.graphicwitness.com/carter/. It's currenly experiencing heavy traffic, comparable to a DOS attack. Try often or later if you have trouble getting through.

I was listening to CNN and I thought they said Hurricane Carter died? I guess I wasn’t listening too closely.

It was Carter. This is just another example of hero Carter exaggerating.

So people can stop tweeting Alex Jones about ‘coincidental deaths on the same day’. I was also confused for a minute. I said, This can’t be! What’s going on?

So I was traveling over the Easter weekend, listening to Sirius and the hostess mentioned the death of Hurricane Carter, who had died after being unjustly imprisoned. Cancelling Sirius.

Even FOX NEWS,who you think would give all the details about someone asinfamous as this, just gave the same BS details. I’ve sent them a few emails. Not surprisingly,no responses.

Everyone appears to have eben on the same page about this - just sweep it all under the rug as if he were just another boxer. That makes that a conspiracy.
