ALL Jewish people should leave Ukraine at once, a Holocaust survivor warned last night, after grotesque anti-Semitic leaflets were handed out in the country.
The pamphlets and posters, distributed in the eastern Ukraine city of Donetsk, demanded that the Jewish population register, pay a new tax or leave.
They are a terrifying echo of the anti-Jewish atrocities carried out by Ukrainians under Nazi occupation during the Second World War.
The leaflets, apparently signed by pro-Russian group the Peoples Republic of Donetsk, have enraged the world.
US Secretary of State John Kerry said last week: After all of the miles travelled and all of the journey of history, this is not just intolerable, it is grotesque.
Sam Pivnik, 86, was only 14 when his family were rounded up in Bedzin, western Poland, and sent to the death camp at Auschwitz.
After his parents, brothers and a sister were chosen with the flick of a glove for extermination by Angel of Death Dr Josef Mengele, the teenager, tattooed with a prisoner number, was left to survive alone. Mr Pivnik, who now lives in Golders Green, north London, said he was not surprised by the literatures anti-Semitism.
Jews have no place in Ukraine, because nothing has changed, he said last night, and as long as Jews remain there, nothing will change. They had no business staying in that country after the atrocities of 1939-1945.
There is no point in staying there waiting for trouble, in the hope that the world Jewry can save them. Even Germany is doing everything it can to tackle anti-Semitism and is better than Ukraine. Jews in the Ukraine should leave.

The “anti-Semitic” literature distributed is a bit of disinformation being put out there to spread panic. There is high probability that this effort was more to discredit the Ukrainian nationalists (painted as Nazis), than to actually announce any real plan. More likely done by some foreign Islamic jihadist group, considering the number of errors and twisted syntax in the test that has been pointed out by others.
Since the origin of the antisemitic literature is the Russian government, shouldn’t they flee Russia as well?
And who was responsible for those atrocities?
National Socialists.
What Jew would choose to live in Europe after the Holocaust?
What Jew would choose to live in Europe after the Holocaust?
********
Fair point, but one still needs to be careful on where to go.
I can “explain” his service. He was a nazi. Case closed.
Ukrainian nationalists (painted as Nazis),
Exactly! You give Nazi salutes, adopt the Wolfsangel as your emblem, and march in torchlight parades carrying photos of Bandera, and overthrow the government in a firebomb throwing Putsch right before an election,,, and people automatically paint you as some kind of Nazi. Very unfair.
There is nothing to indicate that Mr. Pivnik has ever lived in Ukraine or has any special expertise about the country now. I would rather hear from Ukrainian Jews about whether it’s a good idea for Jews to stay in Ukraine rather than from someone in England.
This could boost immigration for Israel. They need the numbers to offset the rapidly expanding PLO population.

The issue isn't the accuracy of the leaflets. I suspect they're Russian, Putin brought up the antisemitism issue early on. He'd be glad to go in to protect the Jews, what can western Europe say, we'll do it again, like we did last century. It's the fact the the Jewish population, a tiny minority, has now become a bargaining chip. As I've noted before, I respect those who care about their country, Ukraine. But I'd leave. Though honestly, I'd have been gone long ago, at the first opportunity.
