It's no secret that most Hollywood celebrities are enthusiastic supporters of President Obama and his liberal policies, but on Fox's Cashin' In on Saturday, 1970s M*A*S*H star Wayne ("Trapper John") Rogers, now a successful businessman and investor, tore into the news media for shielding the President.

He left because he had business interests in New York but also saw his role secondary which originally it was supposed to be on the same level as Alda’s character. From how I interpreted his comments, he would rather do private business than travel across country to be a bit character. The actor who played Radar had a family in Connecticut and left because he wanted to be closer to his family members.

After Stevenson, Lynnville and Rogers left the show immediately got half as funny and dribbled off from there.

The oldest episodes are still funny and witty to watch today. The newer ones are mostly unbearable.

Liked him as "Adam Cartwright" (the older, more-intellectual Cartwright) on "Bonanza."

Thank you for the response and information.

All I remember is that MASH wasn’t the same after he left.

You are welcome.

M*A*S*H had some well-written scripts in my opinion but the series didn’t age too well. I watched as a child in the 70s because my dad fought in Korea but never discussed it. I knew of his war wound but that was it. There weren’t too many books on the Korean War and encyclopedias were limited in a sense. What I enjoyed (for the lack of a better word) was the paintings of how brutally cold the winters or how people back home considered it a “police action.” I didn’t fall for the gimmicks of the writers in select episodes, then or now.
