And for many, it is worse than that. These men are not only not great; they are morally quite flawed in that they were slaveholders and/or founded a country that allowed slavery. Moreover, they were not only all racists; they were all sexists, who restricted the vote to males. The idea that there is some ongoing guilt for having a "pecking order," in any society; or that--as I believe has been the case with virtually every ethnic group that ever exercised domain over agricultural land, in its history;-- that at one time people were forced to work that land without compensation, being answserable to those who either owned the land, out right, or held it as part of a comprehensive feudal structure; that notion of imaginary guilt is absurd. Contrast not only the America that built on its proud past, with that tearing itself apart in hate & envy, guilt and absurd apology, today; but contrast the latter--and its like in Europe--with the centuries in which leaders like Charlemagne & Frederick Barbarossa were models that appealed to youth, seeking to achieve higher standards of personal honor. (Remember, those rulers presided over feudal systems--or in the insulting parlance of today's American Left, slave based societies.)

Almost all real economic progress flows from a division of labor. Almost all upward striving finds inspiration in heroic figures, who "walked the walk," as it were.

The Left is not simply mistaken in its emphasis. No, it offers only a hate driven attack on the realities of human achievement; the realities of nature. As such it deserves not apology but contempt.

Spread the truth with clear examples of American greatness. I find that young people want heroes; give them some. I’m one of those that gets a tear in my eye when I see the famous paintings. I still have high regard for those men and women that came so long ago to found this country.
