US intentionally drove Ukraine to regime change – Russia's envoy to UN

The US who invested $5 billion in "supporting democracy" in Ukraine was seeking for a more radical settlement of the Ukrainian crisis than the EU, which resulted in a regime change in the country, Russia’s UN envoy Vitaly Churkin said in an interview with "Rossiya 24" TV channel Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports.

"I think that it is Americans who tried to conduct the most radical scenario. A compromise between [Ukraine's President] Yanukovych and the opposition didn't suit them, so, it seems to me, they made a conclusion that it’s time to compensate those $5 billion and to drive the situation to a regime change, that's what happened," the diplomat said.

If Washington indeed spent $5 billion to support democracy in Ukraine, as noted by US Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland, rather than a regime change than this plan has failed as no democracy triumphed in the country, Churkin said.

The Russian line seems to be hardening. This isn't just some wonk on RT saying this. A stupid move by any of the players could escalate this thing.

They are getting very clear about their belief that Ukraine was destabilized by the US. And the Bulgarian announcement is part of it.

Meanwhile, ABC devotes 14 minutes of the Evening News to the Clinton Baby....

Unfortunately, this is true. Soros and the CIA both worked to produce the revolution that threw out the elected President of Ukraine, and that’s what set off the trouble.

I’m not trying to whitewash Putin. But what Soros and Obama did in Ukraine was extremely STUPID. They started a fight, but lacked the will or intention to finish it.

Never start a fight you don’t intend to win.

Not the first time that troublemaker Soros has accomplished exactly the opposite of what he intended.

The Russian government has issued an international arrest warrant for Soros. There is always the option of simply handing his butt over....

Here is something for our Putin worshipers and libertarians to cling to.

“The report makes clear that the US entered into the Geneva agreement with Russia, purportedly to “deescalate tensions” in Ukraine, in bad faith, intending to use Russia’s supposed breach of the deal as justification for expanded sanctions and a further aggressive buildup of US and NATO forces in Eastern Europe aimed at encircling and strangling Russia.
The dispatch of US troops to Poland is a reckless and provocative move that heightens the very real danger not only of civil war in Ukraine, but of war by the US, Germany and NATO against Russia, a nuclear power. It underscores the fact that the crisis in Ukraine was deliberately provoked by Washington to create the pretext for a political, economic, diplomatic and military offensive against Russia that had long been in the planning.”

When did they do that, and is there a bounty?

the “elected President” was a Russian toady that was subverting the country ... Ukraine was all set to sign deal with the EU, he scuttles it and drags the country into Rusdsia’s pathetic economic orbit, and never gave the Ukrainian people a chance to vote on such a significant move.

And he wasn’t removed, he ran away when it became obvious the people weren’t going along with this treason. Good riddance.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find out this is another Arab Spring disaster. Sticking our nose in where it doesn’t belong. Ironically Ukraine may end up part of mother Russia again.

I'm wondering if those shooters who attacked the checkpoint on Easter morning have been positively identified as being financed and equipped by the Right Sector (Kiev), with intelligence maps from US surveillance. Nobody's refuted those claims.

Brilliant move (sarcasm)....now every babouska in eastern Ukraine wants a gun to defend her Russian heritage.

Here is something for our Putin worshipers and libertarians to cling to.

There sure are a lot of Putinista's here. Lately it sometimes feels like I'm on some nutty Ron Paul website or InfoWars. This is what we are going to get as a side effect of the party turning more libertarian - an influx of naive isolationists who, just like liberals, seek to blame the US first in any conflict because they can't accept that the world won't conform to their view that everything would be fine if we'd just mind our own business.

There is a reason that philosophy has been dead and discredited since the 30's, but here it is back again.

The problem with Libertarians is if one were ever elected President we'd get all the bad stuff and none of the good. They'd be able to get their kumbaya, peacenik foreign policy in place (with liberal Democrat support) long enough for bad actors to fill the vacuum and leave us vastly weaker, but none of the domestic/entitlement cuts they claim to support would ever happen because Congress would block it all.

I think a certain limited libertarian streak among conservatives is fine, but nothing good will ever come of them achieving too much power. Actual conservatives are going to have to be very careful to keep the decent libertarians along with the Ron Paul crackpots in check.

Russia’s economic orbit ?

Are John Deere, Coca-Cola, JP Morgan and Ernst & Young in Russia’s economic orbit ?

Those companies and hundreds of other Western countries have been doing business in Ukraine for years prior to this.

Economic orbit is really meaningless.

East and West trade with each other.

Boeing, A KEY US DEFENSE CONTRACTOR, does business in Russia.

The financial elites of the world would like to have all of Eastern Europe assimilated into the EU.

They also want to “Federalize” the EU, that is, completely subsume the EU countries into one.

That’s the only wrinkle.

Other than that, international trade goes on every day, all over the place.

Remember Popeye?

"Give us abortion, drugs, open borders, the gay agenda, and a weak foreign policy today, and we will gladly get liberals to vote to eliminate welfare and social programs and big government on Tuesday."

I doubt the whole country will be part of Russia again but I won't be a bit surprised if the “solution” t the “Ukraine problem” doesn't include giving Turkey a nice chunk of the Ukraine.

Maybe then people will figure out this doesn't have nearly as much to do with Russia screwing around as it has with Russian opportunism screwing up an EU plan. There's cluster flock going on in the Ukraine because the EU wanted one. They just miscalculated and figured Putin would sit on the sidelines and bitch like a bunch of American voters instead of taking what he wanted.

Well, now we know for sure Putin thinks some things are more important than keeping he spice flowing, a perspective I'm sure shocked a lot of leaders in the US and the EU.

“Lately it sometimes feels like I’m on some nutty Ron Paul website or InfoWars”

I feel like I’m often surrounded by a nutty parody of Dr. Strangelove. There are some people here who seem giddy at the chance for NATO to swarm forward and surround Russia. I’ve seen suggestions that we should have landed troops in Crimea, that we should be the vanguard of NATO panzers sweeping into Ukraine.

Suddenly, otherwise sane conservatives apparently miss the cold war so badly, that they are happy to support the EU, the EU banks, the IMF, Obama, Kerry, McCain, Hitlery, the Mainstream Media, and Right Sector Nazis giving seig heils to Bandera,,,,all just to stick it to Putin, the only guy willing to give the finger to our governments nutty homo, jihadi, green agenda.

This ain’t the 1980s. In this case, with this cast of players; Yes indeed, I’m rootin’ for Putin.

May have been a good riddance of that particular fellow, but you see, the outcome may be the same as if the ousted fellow was still in power.

Emotional reactions often have unintended consequences.

Same could be said as here in the US. Imagine Joe Biden telling Ukraine they should have prepared for energy independence instead of relying on Russia. I heard that and laughed out loud at the blatant hypocrisy.
