Before the voter ID became law here in TN, you showed your voter registration card. The clerk asked you if you had already voted and if you did you were not allowed to vote. You verified with the clerk your birth date and address and then had to sign a sheet which you took to the voting booth and gave to the helper.
The usual up here is only to have to give them your name and address and for them to check that off on their list. I have no question but that lots of after-hours votes get added in. In the cities, not in the towns.
