Some of you may have already seen this article making its rounds on the interwebs. In it, claims are made that Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Special Agent Daniel P. Love of the recent Bundy Ranch versus BLM debacle is/was an Army Special Forces soldier (Green Beret).
Special Agent Love earned a position of primary antagonist in the eyes of much of the country. This was a due to a secretly recorded conversation between reporter Pete Santilli, from Guerilla Media, and Special Agent Love, which can be heard here:
For the record, anyone who has served more than a day on a Special Forces detachment would recognize quickly while listening to the diplomacy recorded between Love and Santilli that it was not going well. Put simply, Love displayed a tone dripping with superiority, spiked with aggression, and wholly absent of the recognition that pissing off the locals is extremely unwise when youre on the locals turf. These are things SF soldiers learn within a few hours of Unconventional Warfare training.
It should be noted that the vast majority of SF guys who I converse with are vehement supporters of the Constitution and see the recent incident in Nevada as foreboding and disturbing. I will let the readers decide for themselves what to think about the conversation, though at this point, you may be able to guess where my personal opinion lies in this matter.
Knowing all of this, it shouldnt be hard to imagine that shortly after this claim was published, the Special Forces channels Im active in got pretty spun up due to the having one of our own tied to the federal agency seen as overstepping their Constitutional authority.

I’m glad to see that someone is doing the nug work to get to the truth. I saw a number of red flags when I first read about. Always be very skeptical of anything about Special Operations that uses terms like: “a private source”, “everything was classified”, and “We’re attacking Macho Grando in the morning, at 0800. We’re coming in from the North. Don’t tell anyone.”
Don’t believe everything that you see in the movies or read on the internet.
If not a board-certified Ranger/snake-eater/SEAL, then what? Union goon? Frustrated jump-school washout case? Spetsnaz loaner?
So true. Those guys were mercs likely Crisp or Blackwater.
Union goons, for sure, since they were government employees. However, these are most likely either BLM agents or hired thugs. They acted like your run-of-the-mill shitbag who could not hack it as a soldier or marine in the real military and went on to use their prior military status to become federal lackeys.
But, it is within the realm of possibility that the "agents" were hired hands from any number of PMCs or corporate security forms. This is much less likely.
The beards, while mildly suspicious for federal agents, are easy enough to explain: they are ashamed of what they are doing or they fear retribution. Either way, they attempted to hide their identities, poorly, and got a lot of people stirred up, besides.
It's a desert. I'd probably wear sunglasses during the day, too.
People today see beards and sunglasses on a man in uniform and immediately assume he is some kind of operator. While I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, this time it is probably just a BLM agent with a beard and sunglasses. Either way, they violated their oaths and should be held accountable.
Unless, of course, they are trained to appear to represent a government they were sent to "destabilize"...
They looked more like armed fed agents. Anyone with any sense wouldn’t have bunched up and put themselves in such a vulnerable and indefensible position.
my pony has more situational awareness than this idiot Love does. He comes across as a Prickly little cuss.
